2025–26 opponent tracking

Really interested to see outcome of Bonnies at VCU.
VCU new coach, new roster vs the best team Woj could build and coached by Mark Schmidt.
And THE VCU favored by 10.5. Wow. Same ol VCU, the beat just goes on. If VCU covers that number with a brand new regime vs this Woj/Schmidt production, look out A10.

are we really still that impresed with "more with less" Woj/Schmidt? he's been 8-10, 9-9 and 9-9 the past 3 seasons. it's a mid A10 program.

Loyola rounding into form just in time for conference play, taking down Rhode Island on the road, 61–57.

Rhody falls from 108 to 120 and Loyola moves from 297 to 286 in KenPom.

VCU, Mason, and Dayton were all looking shaky coming down the stretch, but they all pulled out wins.

Bonnies had the Lambs dead to rights but a 6 and a half minute field goal drought let VCU go on a 20-4 run to win the game pretty easily.

That was Schmidt in the dreary cold western New York night and no superstar general manager. Now he has a superstar GM ☺️

Last recap of 2025!

Aside from Loyola upsetting Rhode Island in the opening game of the day, the A-10 results went as expected today, although as discussed some of the top teams found themselves in a bit of trouble in their second halves before pulling out the wins.

In the OOC portion of the slate, we had a double-opponent matchup where Charleston Southern needed a big comeback to avoid becoming the first D-I team to lose to Gardner-Webb. Charleston Southern was down 15 early in the second half, then went on a 21–4 run to take the lead with about 12 minutes to go and didn't relinquish the lead again. W&M continued their strong play, while Elon fell to Charleston and Furman squeaked by Mercer. Old-time CAA rivals ECU and ODU both took Ls tonight.

Hopefully Loyola doesn’t win against whatever become the top 3 teams in conference play. Would hate it if the A10 only got one bid to the NCAAs.

I am not surprised about the struggles. I haven’t been impressed by any A10 team I have watched so far this season. A bunch of teams at the same level of play in the league.

Will be a one bid league for sure, STL has the only at large chance and there’s too many land mines in the a10. Whoever wins the tournament will be the only bid

Happy New Year! No A-10 games today, and a fairly light slate of games overall, but a few with UR impact. Our best win Belmont pulled out a solid win at home against Bradley. They were only up one with under 8 to play, but closed strong for a 10-point win. Southern Illinois managed to pick up their first MVC win on the season while VMI was up two on Samford at the half but couldn't keep it going. Samford had a 24–0 run over about a 7-minute span in the first part of the second half to blow past the Keydets.

Non-conference (2–1)
- Samford 78, VMI 58
- Southern Illinois 75, Valpo 70

Busy night for Spider impact games. No real surprises in the A-10 other than Dayton struggling to beat Loyola.

On the OOC side, Furman lost in OT at home to a bad WCU team, while Charlotte was down 18 to Wichita with 14 minutes to go before fighting back to send it to OT and ultimately picking up a solid win over Wichita in double OT. Not much else of note.

- Western Carolina 80, Furman 77 (OT)
- Charlotte 104, Wichita State 100 (2OT)
- Georgia Southern 93, ODU 86
- Wofford 95, The Citadel 86
- Charleston Southern 86, UNC Asheville 83

A-10
- VCU 93, Duquesne 80
- GW 77, La Salle 55
- Dayton 70, Loyola 68
- Mason 61, Rhody 50
- Davidson 62, St. Joe's 56

Chatty from preseason #1 to losing to VMI. Southern Conference is up for grabs.

Wichita St was @ Charlotte

Light Sunday after a busy Saturday. We were the only A-10 game today, and there was just one OOC impact games for us, although it involved two of our opponents. Belmont was up 9 on Southern Illinois with under 3 to go, but were outscored 13–3 the rest of the way. Salukis won it at the buzzer with a Kevin Anderson-like baseline fadeaway over a big. (They did put 0.1 back on the clock, but SIU intercepted the Hail Mary inbounds.)

Just one game on the impact docket today, and it saw W&M fall to Charleston, 88–79. The Tribe was down 14 at the half but opened the second half on a 15–2 run to cut the deficit to one, although they couldn't get over the hump. Kept it close most of the rest of the way and were only down three with 3 minutes to go, but Charleston hit a couple of threes to get some breathing room and W&M couldn't close the gap.

Non-conference (0–1)
- Charleston 88, W&M 79
