2025–26 opponent tracking

Believe Avila's foul was a common shooting foul that gave VCU three shots.

I believe Evans for VCU and Jones for SLU got flagrants and ejections, while almost all bench players from both teams got ejected for leaving the bench.

I'm not sure what the rules are as far as further suspensions. I think if you got ejected for leaving the bench but didn't participate in a fight, you don't get suspended. Not sure what else may come down from above.

For completeness' sake, just the one game on the impact docket tonight. VCU jumped out to an 11–0 lead, led by 9 at the break, and it took until almost halfway through the second before SLU took the lead. But once SLU had the lead they never relinquished it and kept pushing the margin until the final seconds when Jennings hit a three and Lewis earned himself three free throws trying to be cute while SLU was dribbling out the clock.

2/20

A-10
- SLU 88, VCU 75

Even losing to Rhody, watching SLU in person they were impressive. Bunch of strong athletic 6'3 to 6'7 guards and wings. All with lateral strength and quickness and keep heavy defensive pressure.

Avila dodged a bullet. Just because someone steals the ball while you are running out the clock ( yes, definitely a stupid play and a bad look) doesn't mean you push him to the ground like that. Let the VCU guy be the dumb ass and look stupid for doing that while you laugh it off and enjoy the 20ish point win.

For all the hype around Avila the last two years, watching him in person and last night, I dont love his demeanor on the court. Not very physical and foul bates and whines. Good player, but not great imo.

The Spiders are now in sole possession of 11th, 1.5 games behind GW and Rhody to get out of the pillow fight, and of course we were swept by both of them so tiebreakers aren't looking good.

Not much surprising in the OOC results today. Charlotte beat ECU in the lone battle of Spider opponents, while Elon got smacked around by NC A&T and Chatty did the same to The Citadel. Southern Illinois had a decent road win over UNI, and Belmont improved to 25–4 with Noyes only scoring two points in 17 minutes on senior night, though he did also have five boards and a block.

2/21

- Belmont 87, Indiana State 70
- Southern Miss 86, ODU 81
- Southern Illinois 59, UNI 57
- NC A&T 102, Elon 82
- Chatty 93, The Citadel 72
- Longwood 107, Charleston Southern 96 (2OT)

A-10
- St. Joe's 75, Loyola 61
- Dayton 78, Duquesne 66

good to see Southern Virginia back on track!

Go Spiders!

if you watch the replay, Avila didn't even extend his arms. he bodied the guy a little so a common blocking foul is the right call. the VCU guy just lost his balance on the heave and fell into the table.

I get some people are big on playing until the final whistle. I'm not. when a team (SLU) calls off the dogs up 20 with 2 seconds left, you let the clock go. you don't go for the steal. if you do and get bodied ... that's on you. don't cry about it.

Agree 100% sman - if the VCU guy doesn't play cute and steal the ball from the guy dribbling out the clock - there's no kurfuffle, not to mention it was the VCU guy who ran in after and tackled the wrong guy.
