2025–26 opponent tracking

Mooney is what he is. Our program is what it is with him at the helm. There will be no substantive changes, ever. I've said it before, but when I go to home games, I feel like I can't tell whether the year is 2006, 2013, 2019 or 2026. The atmosphere is the same. The band plays the same 5 songs. The style of play is the same. The energy levels, or lackthereof, are the same. We are just going through the same motions every game, every season. The whole thing is just like a moldly loaf of bread that's been sitting on the counter for 12 years.

The energy level is not the same, it has gotten worse. The energy around the program has been on a steady decline for the last decade (with a few brief spikes, like 2020 pre covid, A10 tourney 2022, mid season 2024). That’s the thing that should alarm even the Mooney supporters.

I dont go to games after being a season ticket holder for 35 years. Gave it up a few years ago. I am not alone, many long time Spider fans are done. Sounds like attendance is dropping. Guess they need to get busy finding new fans like Bob Black suggested a few years ago!

Wasn’t that Matt Smith?

I agree. The lack of promotions, or at least, announced promotions, along with the in-game experience, which we have discussed here before, has been terrible for fans and gets worse every year. (I'm not even including the on-the-court product, I would have the same complaints if we were undefeated).

Well, Fordham got the road win over a Castro-less GW, while Bona faded down the stretch to get nipped by GMU. And Joe's handled La Salle. Spiders fall into sole possession of 12th place.

Busy day on the OOC side, led by Belmont putting up triple digits on a solid Murray State team. Noyes had a career-high 15 points in 16 minutes on 5-for-6 shooting including 4-for-4 from deep. Meanwhile, W&M and Elon both fell to inferior opponents as everybody else but The Citadel lost.

Wife and I attended the WM Campbell game, our second WM game this season. WM was down 23 or 25 points in the first half (nothing fell and Campbell was on fire.) and came back to within two but couldn’t get over the hump 🐪. The ball was not bouncing their way in the first half but neither the team or crowd gave up. It was an exciting and fun atmosphere with lots of student, alumni and local support. Very obvious when second half began that WM made adjustments. Campbell had a small player score almost 40 pts. I don’t think he missed a three in the first half.
Neither team did a weave, they both just aggressively attacked the basket, especially WM. Campbell had three or four players fouls out.

Watched some of the end of game myself as it wasn’t on Flo and instead was on CBS SN. The Tribe just couldn’t clamp down on D during the second half. They had quite the home win streak going, but apparently Campbell has their number as they have won the last 3 contests.
