1/1/1 MLAX v 4/5/5 Golden Domers (6-1) 4/4 12:30 EDT ACCNX Evanston,IL

It’s very clear a ton of posters never played lacrosse or understand the momentum swings that happen. That last goal was absolutely brutal for us and ND has the momentum back.

ND came out firing early but they also were fortunate we were hitting the post instead of the net. In all reality this game could be tied if we just had a couple things go our way.

I suspect we’ll claw back into this and make it a game. Either way, I like how we have responded being down the way we were.

Admittedly not a lacrosse expert but how, with 5 seconds left, do you leave the goalie isolated like that?
What do you mean?

Putting another guy near the net gives an easy pass to whoever they aren’t defending and an easy shot. It was a great individual play who beat the defender off the first step and caught the keeper completely off guard with that shot. If you look at it he completely stabbed near side, completely unprepared. Play call was good, player execution not so much.

Defender needed to check the stick and didnt hit the stick on the wrap around. He does that and the ball gets striped since it’s a one armed shot.

Well not the result we wanted to day but a lot of things to take away.

ND deserved to win.

Our start was inexcusable for the magnitude of this game, both great goals to start by Notre Dame, but we look like we were playing in quick sand. A lot of slipping early and just low awareness defense early.

Tough to have the shot clock expire on that first goal and have it called off, only for Notre Dame to keep blitzing us and having it work was a real killer. We just needed one thing to go right in the 1st quarter and not a single thing did. I think ND taking the foot off the gas showed how good we are when other teams drop their level a bit.

I said this season keeper and FOGO will determine how far we go this year, and theyve done a great job so far. However both were outclassed today, especially the Notre Dame goalie who made some phenominal saves and in my opinion, is the main reason they won today. Meanwhile our best save was by our defender on an empty net. Our FOGO guy got better as the game went along, but inexcusable to lose 15/17 to start out. Hes a good one though and definitely improved as the game went along.

ND forced some poor shots that were made easy thanks to some solid defense.

I do think there are some positive takeaways from this. Namely being that we can claw our way back against any team in the coutnry. Our clearing while nerve wracking at times, was good. Sense of urgency in the 3rd/4th could of been better.

The 10 man ride was called WAYYYY to early on that final goal that put the nail in the coffin.

Heads up Spiders, its important to be #1 after memorial day.

3 more A10 games + 2 A10 tourney games remain

Gotta go 5-0 to get a Seed in Big Dance and a 1st round home game

We were a 3-4 seed before ND game, now 7-8 seed after loss likely

Remaining -Bonnies away,Joes home,HPU away

Host A10 tournament(UR,HPU,UMass,Joes)

Proud of the efforts after the first 10 minutes. This team has a never quit attitude. In the end, a respectable score and like I said before hopefully this loss helps get us refocused and takes the pressure off of being an undefeated mid major #1 seed. Something tells me Chemotti is not the moral victory kind of guy and there will be a lot to review and learn from this game.

I do think there was an element of our guys being star struck by their own success and media attention. Yes, Notre Dame has a big following everywhere in the country but this was the game talked about the past few weeks. Wasn’t even meant to be streamed but because of a bunch of fan complaints got it done. Stadium was full too in Chicago.

Coach was right. It’s human nature for anyone, let alone 18-22 year olds to not get a little carried away with the attention, interviews, podcasts. It’s fun and what every kid dreams of. None of our guy were 5 star recruits that were getting this level attention out of high school. This is what Memorial Day weekend will feel like but 10x more. For us to be national contenders year in and year out, we have to get used to being in the spotlight. Like it was commented above, hopefully we do fewer podcasts now and really dial it in for the rest of season.

Good news is that UVA, Georgetown, and Cornell keep winning and all 3 might be top 10 or at least top 15 by the end of the season. We are fighting for a top 8 seed. Probably around the 4-7 range now depending on how other things shake out. Anything can happen. On the flip side we have some very good A10 opponents to end the season in SJU and HPU. SJU has had our number over the years and High Point is a rival in lacrosse going back to our Atlantic Sun days. Likely going to play those teams 2x each in a 3 week stretch. We can afford only 1 more loss to be in the tournament as an at-large. Every game counts.

Proud of the team and program. Very greatful we have a spiders sports team we can all rally around playing at the highest level. Also helps that it’s in the spring when football and basketball season are over.
