We're officially doomed

Don’t see Mooney deciding to retire this year. If I want to put on the wishful thinking cap, it would be that he retires after next season because he heard great things from Schmidt after his retirement this year.

Do we really think Hardt has the awareness or craftiness to play this game of 3d chess being suggested here?

Prove me wrong John.
RIght, he doesn't seem to have this awareness, I agree. More likely he is reading the message boards, and he just blurted it out to JOC to try to make the speculation stop so he can just get to May. As Rothstein says" We Sleep in May". Hardt can't wait for the sleepy period when Spider hoops is forgotten for several months.

Jack Fitzpatrick and his producer on ESPN Richmond this morning pretty much laid it all out there and said Mooney should be let go. Seemed like Fitz pulled the Q1/2 and Q3/4 stats from VT's thread here and read through them on air. Nice to hear the narrative change publicly to reflect the reality of our situation. Hopefully they don't get in trouble with Hardt and Queally for speaking the truth!

"We sleep in April" - Hardt.

Always ahead of the curve.

Good stuff. You mean lil of VT on the lil ol Richmond message board had some influence on the Richmond airways??

Nice to hear they used those stats, instead of just regurgitating the winningest, nicest guy mantra.

Media Talking Points - Chris Mooney by the Numbers

hmm.

I really appreciate Fitz and Allen addressing the real issues with the program. It is nice to FINALLY have a spotlight put on just how bad UR basketball is right now in the local media. Bringing CM back is so embarrassing to anyone associated with UR. I guess Hardt and the UR administration have no shame. Pathetic.

Wow. The local and even A-10 media around Mooney seems devoid of any critique. Nice to see when they are actually provided with some data, it is damning.

Also the thing I've heard locally is that it is just a small faction of Richmond fans that are dissatisfied with Mooney, I also think is completely off base. I literally don't know of a single person who knows our program that wants Mooney here.

Mooney is too young to retire, but he has had health issues that perhaps make it more realistic. I still think there is a 0% chance Mooney is retiring

Yeah, he isn't walking away from the Mooney. Unlike Bennett, who has a legacy to maintain, Mooney does not and again if someone is paying you 1.5 million dollars, you probably aren't walking away from it either.

We're lumped in with the "low and mid-major" jobs...

It's somewhat notable to me that Mooney's name made it on this list, though. This is the first time I can remember any national media hinting at him being under scrutiny since the back to back down years in '17/'18 and '18/'19.

Maybe that's just Goodman seeing the last two seasons and reaching out to a UR source to get an update....but maybe it's at least a little more than that.

30 point lead losses are kinda rare, so will see if this momentum builds or if it's just something to talk about because of the recency of the event.

as an inciting incident for questions about why results are so mediocre, a blown 30 point lead is as good as any.
