Unbelievable. What a nightmare. Zero justification for this. He would be fired with these results the last 2 years at 300+ schools.
My hope was Mooney would "resign" after our 1st game A-10 tourney loss. Maybe that still happens, and they are setting this ridiculously timed post from Hardt up as a "resignation" and not a firing.
Not one person with any basketball knowledge would think he should be back next season. This is just unreal to me.

U can’t be too shocked u were in favor of the 2-year extension in 24’ when he already had 3 years left on his contract.
And u do u think Big Hat No Cattle Hardt said that to JOC without ever talking to Moon?
But yeah there’s that minuscule hope. Imo I think we have better chance to win 5 in a row while beating vcu on way to a10 title. Think of those odds.

I would add Mooney in to this equation. It takes three to make this evil Triumvirate and continue to troll us.
PQ = Rich guy who has a buddy in Mooney and doesn't really give a flying you know what about hoops compared to trying to elevate his Lil buddy moon , and of course LAX.
Hardt: the bumbling stumbling idiot sleep walking the halls of the RC and sending his terrible emails .
And moon: human nature kicked in when he was gifted a 10 year contract to start, and now the other two enabling his mediocrity year after year.

I’m obviously disappointed, but why is anyone surprised? Our men’s basketball program has been a joke for the better part of a decade and nothing has been done to rectify the glaring problem. The athletic department does not care. Why should we? I sadly will not step foot in the robins center again until the man is gone. Maybe the 2040’s will be our decade.

UR is a total joke of a program. The University and the athletic department have absolutely no respect for their fans. Its staggering how little they care about putting a quality basketball team on the court for the fans to embrace. F you Hardt, DQ and all others involved.

This is why the people who said "ohhh the billboard guys ruined it - we were JUST ABOUT to FIRE MOONEY and they put that up" were so so full of poop. Just like this year, if Hardt can just keep walking down the hall and ignoring the situation, he will. Years left on the contract of an over paid, under motivated, underperforming coach - well there are years left on the contract.
So I have it on my calendar, 27-28 season AA and Deuce Simmons deal us the poison pill. There salaries cobined with Mooney should be ~14 million, and they will make the miracle run and 5 more years. New ETA for Mooney watch is '32 season.

This "decision" tells us one or more of these realities:
* We don't think the program is capable of more than this
* We don't care about winning
* Hardt gave Mooney an absurd extension and didn't include a lower buyout, and we are unwilling to pay the buyout
* Hardt is incompetent at his job
* Queally has complete authority over this situation and Hardt's hands are tied
* God hates us
