The next great one ...

No chance we’ll land her. She’s turned down power conference schools. Unfortunately with us losing Roussell later than average, a lot of coaches have been picked. We need another young up-and-coming coach who had success at the lower ranks. High point’s coach would’ve been great and same with Quinnipiac but they already went somewhere else. Have to look at Columbia, James Madison, Miami (OH). Perhaps FDU or UC Irvine.

She might be our best bet to keep the current prospective class and roster but don’t know what the ceiling would be under her leadership. Best coaches, in my eyes, are ones who have proven success as head coaches at lower levels looking to move up the ranks.

How about Associate Coach Radice. She has been with Roussell for a while.
Thought the same thing. Mainly because hiring from within seems like the easiest thing to do and we know Hardt likes easy. Not saying Coach Radice doesn’t deserve a shot because I think she does especially at this point in the year.

Well seems we need to find a coach ..

I nominate Coach Thibault-DuDonis of Fairfield ..

I’m hoping there’s a longer/better list. I just did some quick research on the names listed and the only profile I saw that was even mildly interesting was the Vermont coach Kresge.

A downside of finding out so late is that all the better lower mid major coaching prospects are taken. We have to think outside the box now for the next coach. I still think proven head coach. Someone recommended Maureen Hirt who just won D3 national championship at Denise and a 30-2 record. Not a bad idea.

Again, my vote is for a young, up-and-coming head coach from a lower school. The reason I think young for coach (30s or 40s) is because they will probably be more motivated in their careers to move up
the ranks. Have a lot to prove and dreams they want to aspire to. Reason I say up-and-coming from a lower school is because if they were proven to be great or already at our level or above, then they’d probably go to a P4. For instance we are not landing Carly from Fairfield. Lastly, reason I say head coach is because it’s someone who knows how to lead a program, recruit, at the highest position of the team. Don’t want someone figuring out how to become a head coach for the first time at UR.

Hardt made a great hire last time but he had already worked with AR so he knew how good and what a great fit AR was. No such advantage this time.

Oregon State hired a DIII coach to clean up the wreckage of its WBB program about 15 years ago. He's still here and has been wildly successful.

OSU baseball hired a DIII coach in 1995 and all he did was win three NCAA titles and make the college baseball HOF.

Not scared at all of a DIII coach. If the Denison woman can coach, then hire her. She's doing something right. I've been to Denison and it is the furthest thing from a jock factory.

I think the list of candidates we first reach out to should be:

1. Carly Thibault-Dudonis at Fairfield. Also coach of the year finalist. Long shot but worth a shot.
2. Lindsay Edmonds at Rice
3. Sean O’Regan at JMU
4. Megan Griffith at Columbia
5. Carrie Moore at Harvard

My family is originally from Fairfield County,CT. My dad was one of 2 CT students at UR class of 1942. My uncle played golf regularly with Fred Barakat, former men’s coach at Fairfield . Fred later became a supervisor of officials. I would love to be in the room to compare Fairfield to Richmond.

I nominate our alum and former Midlothian High School Coach Doug Garrett to work as an advisor to John Hardt during this process
The reason I want to get some alumni in the room to discuss options is that we should want the candidate to have a personality that will resonate with recruits, their family and our alumni base, in addition to x and os. To keep our positive momentum will take a broad rally of support - like the original Spider Club provided on a volunteer basis. Before this announcement I had planned to reach to Jim Merritt to discuss this.
