Roussell Interview

I wasn't suggesting he did. It's easy to understand why Northwestern would be on the radar if Roussell leaves. I'm leaning towards he'll be at UR next year.
I hope you’re right. I don’t blame coaches for wanting to go to a higher level but sometimes the grass isn’t always greener. Lot more expectations at P5 schools (but I’m sure coaches like Roussell embrace that) with a shorter leash.

There’s also no guarantee that Roussell would be Northwestern’s first choice either. There are a ton of great coaches out there both as head coaches at mid majors or assistants at P5s that could get the nod. We’ve seen Roussell turn down P5s before with Georgia Tech supposedly offering and him turning down any interest that came from Wisconsin.

I think Richmond is the perfect place for him. He has been very successful here and received a ton of recognition both on an individual and team level. I honestly think with adequate resources, the ceiling for Richmond can be that of a mid-tier P5. So he basically has his P5 program here with the comfort of knowing he basically has job security for life (and in his case very much deserved).

I expect some dropoff next year, we lose a ton of production. But unless one is entirely driven by money, Pitt, BC or Rutgers are not better jobs.

And any job he might take will probably be a total rebuild. Does he want to take that on?

He is number one her Pitt list, but I don't know if it's in any particular order.
Pitt hasn't played in the NCAAs since 2015 and has pretty much sucked every season since. It's 1-17 in the ACC this year. I know every coach believes in him/herself but Pitt is a huge, huge lift, and going to work at that campus instead of UR every morning would be a total downer.

I expect there will be much better jobs to consider.

Roussell has never given any indications he is thinking about moving on. He is happy in Richmond by all appearances. In my opinion he is a top 10 coach in America. He is also a young man.

Iowa or Indiana would be 2 places I would worry about if they opened up. His and his wife's alma maters. But if we keep supporting the women's team by buying tickets and showing up to games, it will show the administration they can break even or even better on women's basketball and will make it easier to stroke a check when the big boys come a calling(which they will). Plus he has the #1 sports podcast in NCAA women's basketball touting his achievements!

This guy is a winner, and will be a winner wherever he coaches.

I expect Penn State will be open shortly and if that happens I am officially worried for us!
My official worry list so far.

1. Northwestern
2. Penn State
3. Rutgers
4. Wake Forest (if it opens up)
5. Boston College
6. Pitt

I think Purdue would be more worrisome than Penn St. Again, I have no inside information, just thinking about where he is from and what big names from that region might be open and would be appealing.

Northwestern has really stunk the last 4 years.Highly doubtful that they hire from within.More likely to clean house.

Hoping Roussell has enough of rebuilding programs and wants to continue the excellent job he has done here at Richmond. I will really be upset if the AD doesn’t do whatever is necessary to keep him.
