Leaving a Legacy

As some random alumness who last missed a game in the Robins Center on 2/24/1982, I do feel somewhat vested in the program…
Sure and that's to be commended. It wasn't a slight on anyone on this board per se, the the tenor of the post was he's just cashing a paycheck and he wasn't an alum and doesn't care.

Sadly for every one of you, there are 10x that rarely come down and visit on campus or give or are all that vested.

Again, i commend you support, that's awesome, Will wasn't even born yet,

He should take the Air Force job for 4-5 years, restore that program to at least .500, coach athletes who are fully dedicated, will stay for four years and don't expect rev share (above what they earn as military employees). He can live in beautiful Colorado where he can hike in the Garden of the Gods and go up to Denver to watch the Rockies in the summer. Win win!

Great idea Wood. But he probably would need to take a ~ 80% pay cut. And he is not leaving with years on his contract and we are not buying him out it would seem. It does sound inviting, and I bet those high scoring Rockies game in the elevation and home runs galore would be fun. Broncos are pretty good now too, and the Nuggets. Good time to go to Colorado.

We all loved the A-10 tourney title and the Iowa win. But, that was 4 seasons ago. Since then, we have gone 7-11, 15-3, 5-13, and 5-11 in the A-10. Add in the 1-3 A-10 tourney record, and we are 33-41 against A-10 teams the past 4 seasons, including 10-25 the past 2. 10-25!!!!!!!

Maybe he is sounding tired, unenergetic, and defeated (an adjective I used several times to describe his interviews lately) because he knows the game has passed him by, he loves coaching, he loves coaching at UR specifically, and he knows it won't ever be the same again. That leads to the conclusion that it's time to go and has made his decision to do so. That doesn't mean he has to like it.

I honestly don't think Mooney cares about his legacy. He is a clock puncher, he does what is necessary to perform his job expectation, nothing further.

If he really cared about his legacy, we would have heard or he would have done something to that effect over these past 2 sub par seasons. He would have done outreach events to up student involvement as he watched the student section slowly erode over this time. He would have expressed his profound disappointment/frustration with the product he puts on the floor in one of his many media opportunities to do so. He would offered us hope in the future by suggesting changes he needs to make.

He offers no solutions though, there is very little emotion coming from him, indicating that he has plans to fix all that is broken.

He will take our $$$ as long as we continue to pay him nothing more. And when we finally part ways, he probably won't be a big part of the UR community, because he never really has shown he is a big part of now. This is a job for Mooney, nothing more.

I cannot wait until we get someone who sees this as the opportunity it is, who is fully vested in making us the best we can be, someone who is willing to go 110% every single day. Whenever that day comes, it will be a great day for Spider nation. Hardt and PQ can make that happen in a few weeks or they can choose to let the program continues its slow bleed. The choice is theirs.
