It was VCU's Super Bowl, and they treated it as such. After getting so embarrassed the first time, you knew they would give it everything they had in the rematch.

And it still wasn't enough.

I was at the game. VCU did a nice job recognizing their strength inside and they went inside and drove to the hoop very well. However, Ally Sweeney was in control. She answered VCU rallies time and again. Ally was awesome. Also, the Spiders fought for rebounds on both ends!

Yep, the rivalry is important to VCU because it’s important to their culture to rip the Spider's every chance they get. The AD and their alumni and fans demand and expect it.

I believe the Women have won seven in a row and UR now leads all time series 47-45.

That’s not acceptable to their AD and administration. I’m sure Coach O’Boyle knew it and was held accountable.

Those type of expectations and accountability usually drive better results.

Our Men’s program could use some of that.

The belief among Ram fans was that she had checked out a while ago and they needed to move on. But damn, not even letting her finish out the season at this point is brutal. Not sure why they felt they had to move now.

The Rivalry is important to VCU, and it is very interesting this happens the day after we beat them for the 7th straight game. Their team has had a lot of injuries this year including their best player being out but looks like Ed is sending a message, and I agree that is brutal this late in the year.
