Game Thread - URI @RC Wed 1/21 7p ESPN+

It's a reason not an excuse.
I would agree if it was a singular event. I also agree that we can’t blame the coach whenever we lose and then say the team played well despite the coach if we win. Fact of the matter is everything ultimately comes down to coaching, is my perspective. That is why I’ve given praise in the past when there was merit to it. Not now though. We have lost 3 out of the last 4 at home, 2 of which were to Q4 teams. This has become a pattern and we are not trending in the right direction.

It is like watching reruns. You know exactly what is going to happen and you watch anyway.

Only thing this game proved is that AA should play as many minutes as possible and Tyne needs to stay on the bench with Tanner. He can come in if there is foul trouble or to give a quick break before a tv timeout. Harper needs to keep getting the minutes he has been getting the last 2 games and can take minutes from Johnson.

I have to admit I consciously chose not to attend tonite. I can’t get over the difference between the excitement at the women’s game Sunday versus the impression I got tonite watching from home. Students have voted to withhold support of the men’s program. So have knowledgeable season ticket holders.

Sarcasm would answer why change anything ‘cause a broken clock is correct twice a day.

Change lineup, change tempo, maybe press, stop the weave, switch up the D, crash the boards, don’t pull players after one mistake, take a timeout to give a pep talk of encouragement emphasizing what is working, Anything …but then again I’m not even watching the game.
I was at the game, and everything you said is accurate. But years of watching MoonSys, one can understand these things need to change. More of the same gets us nowhere.

Careful 17, you’re finally moving to the dark side

Brutal home loss to a team with one conference win. Yes, I realize we played 75% of the game without either of our centers. Still, we were in position to win the game but couldn’t get stops or make free throws down the stretch.

Throw in the fact that the RC is 1/3 full and about 15 students showed up…just a bunch of apathy everywhere.

We’re not better than 9th or 10th in the league. Really thought this team was improved from last year’s disaster.
I think we have better players than last year, but results in conference don’t seem to be screaming much better. And RI is more than likely not GM and VCU (teams we haven’t played).

That's a shame. There are lots of people, like the RMC ushers, spider concession workers (many of them are on work study) who get income off the Richmond games. Yeah, let's punish everyone else because we don't like the coach.

Cancelled season tickets three years ago, after 30 years of fandom. Realized the MBB program was beyond recovery with Mooney. Watched the end of game tonight, how many times has this occurred. Hate to say but every Spider fan expects the loss anytime the opponent has a slight chance to win. Again, and again, and again. I’m old, very old, I don’t expect UR MBB to be relevant again in my lifetime unless there is a coaching change. Hopefully my grandson, freshman next year can experience something similar to the Tarrant and Beilien times

Then you'd recognize that at the end of the year when the ball stops bouncing there is one champion. Everyone else, including VCU fans, generally end the season sad. Just enjoy the journey and the fact we have players with Richmond across their chest and a coach who loves the University, graduates his players, and represent the University with class.

Congratulations to your grandson

When you gain this perspective you'll enjoy the games more
