Game Thread - Davidson @ RC Sat 1/31 4:30 PM (USA Network)

I also look for the narrative from the Robins Center and Bob on the radio to now focus on how the injuries to Beagle, Walz, Harper, and especially now AA totally derailed the season. That will be the excuse for the team finishing near or quite possibly at the bottom of the A10. We had a great record before all the injuries. Its hard to win in the A10 anyway, and the injuries were just too much to overcome.

We have not had a lead in 4 out of 5 games. 160 minutes of losing basketball.*

That's a narrative.

We had the worst OOC schedule in program history, yet still lost 3 games against it.

That's a narrative.

No one has gotten better in A10 play.

That's a narrative.

Don't let the real season facts escape you.

*I got a text about this from someone - non Spider - yesterday who happened upon the game on TV when UR was down 25 and heard the stat. They were incredulous that it could be true. Great PR for UR. I told them that Moon made 1 NCAA in 15 years and got 3 extensions - led to more incredulity.

It’s mind boggling.

We were touting our roster depth as a strength at the beginning of the year. If injuries is the narrative they chose to go with this time, it’ll completely contradict the first point. Injuries happen. It’s part of the game for everybody. It’s not like we were good this year even before the injuries either.

Un freaking believable. I mean Gipe has been a good soldier, traveling the US to visit recruits and go to open gyms. But I heard one of those half time interviews he does and was very underwhelmed. If Hardt hired one those two I think you would see a real riot at Hardts office he might even wake up.

Yeah I think some folks just weren't in thr mood given the halftime score. They had invited former student managers as well and a friend of mine had gone to the earlier events of the day but had set with me at the game. Likewise I heard Chief Rick Edwards was around earlier in the day but from what I saw wasn't at the game.
Was Eric English there? At least he played here.

Again, I believe in a clean break from the mooney regime too. But I hold out some hope that he would be willing to step down for a Hovde or Geriot if his hand is forced. No idea yet if they will be really good coaches, but I think they want to be great and are motivated, so it may be worth a shot as opposed to 2.5 more years of Mooney then some re-tread hire.

We need to cleanse ourselves from the Mooney stench.

This could be possible if we don't bounce back next year, but we've often seen we do best when things are the darkest.

No one here thinks that Will Gipe or Peter Thomas would get a look? I know Peter didn't do great when Mooney was out recovering from heart surgery but everyone I've talked with says he has a great mind and the players love him.
Holy god, dude.

True.

If we only could have called it a season after OOC. Hope CM thinks it gave the confidence factor and got the kinks worked out for the team. Maybe someone can post what our SOS was after our last game OOC.

Unfortunately something changed. We had to play better teams in conference. And then the reality of the storybook 10-3 record OOC started to evaporate.

There are times when I will accept the injury excuse. This is not one of those times.
