Columbia enters the game 2-0 with wins over Butler by 5 and Ohio by 18. Thinking based on ESPN projections, we will be a few points underdogs. Important game to win.

Spiders 70-65.

A very important game early in the season. Hopefully the ladies can stay out of foul trouble and cut down on the turnovers.

One of, if not the biggest game on the schedule. This is an absolute peer team. Win is huge and loss will hurt come at-large and/or seeding time. To me, this game and Fairfield are the two biggest games on the OOC slate.

Couple of late threes save the quarter for the Spiders. Thankful to only be down 3 after that shooting performance.

Newell! What a stretch of play. 12 points, some steals, rebounds and assists. Doing everything at present. Got Doogan going finally.

That 1st quarter was so bad and the 2nd quarter is so good so far, what a change. The 5 missed layups to start the game - all of them open to various degrees - were rough to watch. Mix in 0-8 from 3 and it was painful.

Ullstrom shoots so quickly it often doesn't look like her feet are set. When it doesn't go it seems so awkward, but when she hits 2 or 3 in a row like this quarter, you shake it off. Doogan still not in the flow on offense so to take a 7 point lead at half with her having 4 points is a definite plus.

The Columbia star is a good player, they are running Newell off multiple screens, Spiders have to recognize that and just hedge that 2nd or 3rd screen better to give Newell that extra moment to recover. Other than her, no one on Columbia has worried me all that much.

Spiders should be able to run with Columbia crashing glass so hard, but have to secure def. rebounds first. And also make better decisions with the ball in transition, a couple times they got a little sloppy with it.

good 3rd quarter! Spiders got Columbia very spread out and were able to execute 1 v 1 off the dribble for hoops. Maggie did a good job feeding open players for 3s that they made. Very nice last 4m of that quarter to extend from 6 to 11 up.

Really solid defensive effort so far tonight. Was worried about our perimeter defense coming into season, but its looked very solid so far. We need to figure out some things on the defensive glass, but I assume we will figure that out, plus not that many teams on the schedule that can take advantage of that.

And under the category of nitpicking - - we can do better with turnovers. aggie in particular has been turnover prone so far this year which is understandable since we are asking so much of her creatively in the offense!
