AJ to Portal - I guess trying to get another year

That was my understanding, my assumption is he is attempting to appeal for another year. No idea if that is underway or been granted or other.

I will be surprised if he's granted another year, but who knows in the wild wild west of college hoops these days.

He has played four seasons after redshirting his freshman year at UNH. I assume he'd be trying to get back his redshirt frosh year at UNH where he only appeared in 10 games, but they were scattered throughout the season, so no sign that a medical redshirt would apply. After that he played three full seasons, two at Maine and one at UR.

Same question I had. Regardless, he threw his name in portal as opposed to wanting to stay at UR if allowed another year.
Yep, moot point for us. He doesn't want to stay here. I guess if your a college hooper at the end of your eligibility, it doesn't hurt to throw your name in their, maybe you get some new school to offer to help you appeal. I'm sure AJ like anyone wants to earn another year of guarenteed 6 figure money for 6 months of work.

And a chance at NCAA cause not happening here.

I suspect UR would have retained him had they thought his case had a reasonable chance of winning. This feels like a low chance shot and I wouldn’t tie up a spot for months hoping he wins only for him to eventually lose.

didn't Marcus Randolph try this last year and not get it? Well worth the shot for him/anyone if you can get six figures out of hooping playing college.
The craziness has to stop somewhere. How
much money are all the players who weren’t compensated at all during their college playing years getting? I have no idea, but I am sure it isn’t close to the amounts that the current players are getting. Be happy you were paid and move on.

Maybe or maybe not. At this point do we have a lot of confidence in Hardt & Mooney doing things properly? I wouldn't take anything for granted. Further, if he has a chance of winning his case for additional year, he may have made up his mind to do it elsewhere. Time will tell.
