About Virginia's Gerrymandering

Spanmandering has infected the state. The Democrats have rigged the rules to disenfranchise 50% of the electorate in Virginia. The scheme is illegal and unconstitutional. Abby has lost all legitimacy. This was a career limiting move.

Considering Virginia just had a GOP Governor I find it incredible that people who often swing between Democrat and Republican have just voted to take away all their power to hold their Representatives to account. This has to be one of the greatest riggings of all time.

The current round of redistricting shenanigans began, in fact, in deep blue New York State, when the Democrats, in 2023, threw out the maps prepared by the constitutionally mandated, independent redistricting commission and instead submitted maps which, they said, reflected New York’s overwhelming Democratic majority. The courts originally threw out those Democrat gerrymandered maps, but then the governor‘s office engineered the removal of the chief Judge and the appointment of a more compliant one. The NYS high court went on to approve the redistricted maps in 2024. You’ll note that rationale, that districts should reflect the state as a whole, not the local voting populations, is the same one being used by Republicans and Democrats in this current round. In short, the democrats started it.

Citizens in four of five congressional districts in Virginia have been disenfranchised by a measure that narrowly passed. The democrats had to really bend the rules to get this on the ballot. No this was wrong.

No it doesn’t. But nothing with this current atmosphere of politics is “done right,” so fire meet fire until we finally get some normalcy of fire meet water.
Why would any Virginian sacrifice the values engrained with our culture since Jamestown stoop so low when in power to stomp on half of fellow Virginians to gain absolute control. Sad day.

Agree it was wrong but feel it was necessary. Trump learned he cannot change votes after cast, almost got thrown in jail for his efforts. So, this time he decided he needed to manipulate prior to voting. I have read enough about J6 to believe he is not done. Look for him to attempt to throw out ballots in blue areas, also look for ICE or similar to be at polling precincts in blue areas to attempt to intimidate voters. I anticipate more also, remember DOGE retained the SS info on every person, they took this for a reason.

Citizens is Texas were disenfranchised under your definition and the Supreme Court confirmed, so are the Virginia citizens disenfranchised?

The last I checked, the delegations in any of these states did not approach a 10 to 1 Spanamander. Only deep blue states have accomplished such a feat.

Are you acknowledging Virginians are smarter than Texans? As BJ sings “we didn’t start the fire”. Virginia only accomplished what dear leader requested…and did it better.
Did you cry foul when Texas and NC followed dear leader’s request?

I don’t care what happened in TX, MA, CT,IL,CA or any other state; we are Virginia, first and foremost. We are better, or should be. Gerrymandering is destroying our foundation. My ancestors arrived in 1639, lost five of seven to hostile natives but persevered to lead this state. Today they would be disappointed.

Similar story here.

For decades Virginia was known as the leader nationwide in good governance and strong governmental ethics.

This is no longer the case.

You support the status quo, probably the same argument of the Loyalists in 1776.
I hope you get to visit the VA250 trailer.
