2026 running baseball thread

Spiders loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the second thanks to a single and two walks, but only managed to get one home. 5–2 Monmouth heading to the third.

Spiders bouncing back nicely, winning 7-1 over JMU in T6. Watching on ESPN+. It does not look like a primo day for baseball in the Commonwealth!

Smith only gave up two hits through 5 innings, but one of them was a homer. Spiders down 1–0. Santiago-Cruz coming on in relief for the Spiders.

PSU tacks on two unearned runs in the top of the 6th thanks to a pair of Spider errors.

Spiders unable to answer in the bottom of the inning as Morris gets easily thrown out at the plate trying to score from second on a single to end the inning, and we're headed to the 7th.

Spiders fall, 5–0. Fittingly ends with a runner getting thrown out trying to get back to 1st after a shallow fly to center was caught.

I've only been sort of watching these games, but I feel like I'm seeing a lot of mistakes and bad decisions.

Five strong, shutout innings from Joey Giordana, and two innings each from Anvar and Gay.

Game 2 starting soon. Not sure why they are not on ESPN+, probably because the video crews are at lacrosse and basketball.

Spiders strike first in the third inning of the rubber match, with a leadoff double by Haught, advancing to third on a failed pickoff, and then a sac fly by Dosenbach.

PSU ties it up in the top of the 8th, but the Spiders respond with solo shots from Winebrenner and Morris to go up 4–2. Only one out and PSU pitching change.
