All A-10 player
Example of someone I want to see UR be in the mix with.
And, speaking of negative recruiting, it seems like a coach could look at one of the key guys we want and ask, "why do you want to go there....they haven't been winning and this is the type of guy they are after, the type of guy they expect you to play with (shows them this list)."Agreed - no offense meant towards Copeland. Maybe he comes here and averages 10 minutes and 4 points a game for us and is a valuable contributor. Only 5 guys start, so there is a place for players like this on any team.
It's just fitting that this is the first name we are mentioned with in an off-season where we have such glaring holes all over the court.
P5. $$$, but yes, get our name out there on his list. Shows we are serious.Example of someone I want to see UR be in the mix with.
obviously we've gotten seniors to come here. I'm saying they don't get a UR degree ... unless they put in a lot of work afterwards. You act like we have not gotten seniors to transfer here. We have. AJ and Johnston just made us thier 3rd school for their senior years. It is happening everywhere, and I do not think it is a factor at all when kids consider whether or not they want to transfer.
Based on how we did this past few years, we swiped right on a hell of a lot of players in the transfer pool and that was publicly reported out. I don't think this means that we are really interested in this guy from Ball State, because I would imagine in 3 weeks, there will be at least 30+ players that will have Richmond next to there name as a school that is interested in them.I don’t know what receiving interest means. Maybe this was one of the supposed 500 texts that Mooney received from an agent and he gave areply and the agent/recruit counts that as receiving interest.
However, if a guy averaging 4 points at Ball State are the kinds of recruits we legitimately have interest in, don’t bother playing next season, and just give the extra NIL increase to the women’s team or the lacrosse team.
Well, we have had multiple guys leave every year for quite awhile now. I think you are giving too much credit to our degree.obviously we've gotten seniors to come here. I'm saying they don't get a UR degree ... unless they put in a lot of work afterwards.
so regarding the guys on our team who will be seniors, as I said I'll be surprised if they choose to leave. they've already put in all that work towards a UR degree. unless I guess if they find a comparable school that doesn't require so much residency. but I like to think guys we get here do care about the degree.
These seniors that are transferring are coming to collect a paycheck, not a degree. The players that transfer 3-4 times are not looking for a degree, they are looking to make as much coin as possible.obviously we've gotten seniors to come here. too lazy to look it up ... but which rising seniors transfer out? Burton put 4 years in here.P

We won't get a guy like Lundblade. No one like that will do a lateral transfer when they can experience playing for a major and getting paid big bucks to do it. Sure, contact him, get our name out there, and show we are serious. This could help with other guys who see this and know we have some NIL and care.Guys coming here for 1 year is definitely not because of the degree. Likely same for guys coming here for 2 years. Money talks and everything else walks. If we want to be a serious program this year, guys like Tyler Lundblade out of Belmont are who we need to be recruiting. No guarantee we will land him, but like I've said many times before with the NIL we allegedly will have next year, there is no reason why we can't outcompete P4s for a few of these guys. We won't have a roster full of Tyler Lundblade's but 2-3 guys like him and AA can make a huge difference.
agreed but this conversation is about our rising seniors ... who could all earn degrees here. vs transferring and not getting a degree without a lot of extra work. These seniors that are transferring are coming to collect a paycheck, not a degree. So, now you say our degree matters, but only to rising seniors? Well, Noyes was here 3 years. I guess the good ole Richmond degree wasn't all that to him. Plenty of 2 year guys who were halfway or maybe more toward their degree have left as well. If Tyne and Tanner felt their playing time would be cut, and wanted to play more minutes their final year, they would transfer down in a hurry. The problem is, looking at our roster, they will probably stay because they will likely assume they will get good minutes again next year.too lazy to look it up ... but which rising seniors transfer out? Burton put 4 years in here.
Now, you assume Tyne and Tanner won't get a degree if they transfer elsewhere? I will say it again.....I know several guys who transferred for their senior years and got degrees. It is not as much extra work as you think.agreed but this conversation is about our rising seniors ... who could all earn degrees here. vs transferring and not getting a degree without a lot of extra work.
Agree in general, but he's probably going to K State.Example of someone I want to see UR be in the mix with.
If we offered him $1 million, he will listen. Not saying he's worth a million or not, but my point is the whole advantage of us having a lot more money this year is - ideally - that it can sway recruits to come play here even when we've had awful seasons, missed the NCAAs a lot, and its seen as a lateral move for them.We won't get a guy like Lundblade. I don't think 1 million is nearly enough. He might already know where he is going and how much he is getting. His agent probably already got some $ info before he even entered the portal. And, K St, like EL said, makes a lot of sense. If we offered him $1 million, he will listen. Maybe they value the UR degree. Maybe when Mooney and staff were recruiting them 4 years ago, part of their pitch was how much he cares for players off the court and wants them to be successful in life by getting a valuable degree. Even though they are not A10 caliber players and should not be playing nearly as much next year, you don't think if the players wanted to stay and were okay with the same/slightly decreased NIL we shouldn't honor that? Now, you assume Tyne and Tanner won't get a degree if they transfer elsewhere? Kentucky yes, with $22 million or other outlier schools. By reports I've seen online, most P4s average around $6-10 million. I read that Duke was operating with $12 million.I don't think 1 million is nearly enough. He might already know where he is going and how much he is getting. His agent probably already got some $ info before he even entered the portal. And, K St, like EL said, makes a lot of sense.
I get you are excited about us having more money, but we have mid major money. Kentucky or UNC would pay this guy millions to be a 6th man.
Of course we should honor their scholarships if they want to stay. We should and would. Sure, we can offer to reduce their NIL or keep it the same if not that much, because, depending on who we land in the portal, they could still be rotation guys for us. So, yes, of they want to stay, we can throw a little NIL at them.Maybe they value the UR degree. Again, these are not guys like the many we've had over the years transfer after 1-2 years who clearly were not going to play here. These are guys who have contributed this year and clearly they are not good enough at this level, but doesn't mean they can't have some value on our team as the 11th or 12th guy on the bench. As long as we aren't paying them 6 figure NIL, to me pulling their NIL the year before they graduate can only hurt our image more than it can help. If we're operating with a $4 million NIL and a roster of 15 guys. 2 guys who know the system and provide some leadership as seniors and can contribute some during the games, making a combined $150K or less in NIL is not going to be why we are good or bad next season.
