2025–26 opponent tracking

But, who are "they"? If they are the fans, haven't our fans on here wanted Mooney gone for several years? I am trying to see your point, but can't find it. Grant makes 2.5 million a year and has 5 million in NIL money, and you want to give Dayton fans credit for expecting more than 2 dance trips ( counting 2020) and 1 dance win in 9 years? What do you expect their expectations would be?

Almost forgot the final update of February with all of the excitement over today's Spider performance!

Gardner-Webb was not able to pull off the season sweep of USC Upstate, falling to 1–27 against D-I competition. But good news! The two teams will play for a third time on Wednesday in the first round of the Big South tournament.

The Citadel did have a decent (all things considered) OT win over Wofford and Charleston Southern cruised over UNC Asheville, but Furman and Elon weren't competitive, VMI was a step behind Chatty pretty much all game, and W&M hung on against a bad NC A&T team.

2/28

Non-conference (3–4)
- W&M 91, NC A&T 88
- Chatty 86, VMI 79
- USC Upstate 71, Gardner-Webb 61
- Western Carolina 86, Furman 67
- Monmouth 73, Elon 57
- The Citadel 93, Wofford 90 (OT)
- Charleston Southern 92, UNC Asheville 75

A-10
- SLU 91, Duquesne 76
- St. Joe's 61, Rhody 55
- VCU 82, Fordham 63
- Mason 71, Bona 58

This is March!

La Salle jumped out to a 15–5 lead on Davidson that had me thinking the Explorers might be making a run at pushing us back to 12th, but the Wildcats quickly closed the gap, took the lead, and then kept the Explorers at arm's length the rest of the way.

ECU beat up on an unimpressive Memphis squad, while Charlotte took FAU to OT but lost by one. And Belmont took one on the chin against Illinois State, which won't help their at-large aspirations even though the Redbirds are solid.

3/1

Non-conference (2–2)
- ECU 84, Memphis 68
- FAU 77, Charlotte 76 (OT)
- Illinois State 81, Belmont 74
- Southern Illinois 81, Evansville 67

A-10
- Davidson 71, La Salle 64

We have now lost 4 games to teams with NETs of 198 or worse:
198 Furman
210 Elon
241 Ch Southern
303 Loyola

It would be pretty bad and unacceptable to lose just one of these games every 10 years. We have lost 4 of them this year. WTF! WT flying F!!!!

1 every 10 years is over the top. There have been plenty in the past when pointed out that was never the response. But you’ve come around. Good time to ask…Is Mooney the worst rivalry coach of all time?

I'd love to look at how these teams in our league have done historically against teams in that range, say over the past 5-7 years: VCU, Dayton, SLU, Mason, Davidson, St. Joe's.

I’m sure SF could find the cumulative Quad 4 record from the last 5 seasons (post Covid including this season) of all A10 teams…

Maybe even Quad 3…

I was trying to find Mooney's all time record vs teams outside the top 150 or 200. even told the AI agent to use any ranking system like kenpom or torvik. But they couldn’t pull it together.

Not checking for accuracy and not including non d1 but including postseason, starting 2021-2022…

I see…
Winning % vs Q3&4 combined
VCU 90.6
Dayton 87.1
SLU 84.0
GMU 74.8
St Joe 71.0
Davidson 70.3
Bonnie’s 68.6
Loyola 66.7
UR 64.8
GW 63.7
Fordham 62.1
Duquesne 59.4
URI 54.7
LaSalle 53.7

We play about 21 Q3&4 games a year and need to win 2.5 to 3 more of them per year. So that many fewer bad losses per year to be top 4.

Top 5 winning % vs Q1&2/Q1 wins

VCU 49.2/7
Dayton 44.6/11
Bonnie’s 34.7/5
GMU 32.5/2
Loyola 30.8/5

Fordham & LaSalle no Q1 wins

We are actually 6th fewest Q4 losses but only URI & LaSalle have more Q3 losses.

As I see it…
Over the last 5 years we played 158 D1 games 66.5% were bad teams and we won 64.8% of the 33.5% that were good teams we on 28.3%.
