I like Jeff. Those couple episodes/stories from Fordham were just fascinating watch the car wreck types tho. That job will get u I guess. He had a pretty good run under Beilein as asst. here & WVU and as coach at NKU, working under former Richmond AD staff Mark Sandy and Simon Gray at the time. JB actually kept Neubauer from Dooley staff.
I ran into him many years ago at Caesars poker room in Vegas. It was good talking some Richmond hoops. He was out there for summer recruiting, but also found some personal time too obviously lol.
Elijah Gray played 2 full seasons at Fordham and then transferred to Temple. It was found out after he left Fordham that he was involved in the point shaving scandal. Focus on character? Could have fooled me.
i was at the point shaving game. Urgo sensed something was off versus Duquesne and pulled Gray very quickly. And then he froze Gray out which is tantamount to a jettison. it got to the point where Gray wouldn't sit near the huddles on the bench when he wasn't playing. He was a talent that's for sure but had attitude issues. Jahmere Tripp panned out nicely leaving Fordham and going to Rhode Island. There was the usual defection when a coach leaves/gets fired.
I think Coach Mooney and staff knew exactly how difficult this season was going to be in conference, why else would they have scheduled all the cupcakes OOC? Had to pad some so at least he gets to double digit wins.

1. Every year, you should schedule with a goal of reaching the dance. Doesn't have to be a hard schedule. Just a good, smart schedule with enough quality opponents on there.
2. You should never act defeated and act like your team can't compete. Never. We might have some issues with our roster this year, but we also should not be 3-7 in the A-10 with this roster right now.
3. With the portal, it's pretty ridiculous to be in a position where you think your team might not be good while you are making a schedule. If that is the case, that is 100% on the coach and his recruiting.
