Wofford mess

So head coach and associate head coach were suddenly let go last week, and now it turns out the NCAA has ruled six players ineligible for improper benefits. It was apparently confusion over using campus meal plans after having been moved to off-campus housing that resulted in the players each receiving between $84 and $108 in improper benefits.

Good thing the NCAA is on top of things!

No kidding. I saw the summary with the dollar amounts and immediately thought that this would be hard to justify spending time on. Even more ridiculous that it is over a campus meal plan.

Also seeing that some players are threatening to enter the portal if the coaches aren't rehired....which could result in them not having enough players to field a team. Insane....

I'll try to find, but what appeared to be an NCAA account claimed the report was false.

This is beyond ridiculous with the current state of college sports

It’s sort of semantics, but yes, the original wording wasn’t exactly accurate. Wofford made the moves, but they were self-imposed sanctions routinely done by schools to show cooperation and head off harsher penalties from the NCAA, and the NCAA is usually involved in those decisions anyway.

What a sh$# show from the NCAA.
Per usual for the NCAA. Refuse to get involved in major cheating and big time schools, but arrive on the scene at a low level D1 and put the hammer down for what I am sure was an administrative snafu of not switching meal plans! Is in any wonder the NCAA is 0 for everything in the courts. Literally - - they lose 100% of the time in court because they are inept!
