VCU vs woman Spiders

Great game today, loved how the women play the game and think Roussell really has a great handle on his program.

It was interesting that Athletics could muster a full student section for this but can’t for a men’s game. I don’t know how much of that is promotion (clearly some) vs quality of product (probably more) but it was encouraging.

I really appreciated that when the ladies made mistakes, Roussell was clearly frustrated but he didn’t yank people or berate them. It was sort of a disappointed dad vibe. That’s effective with certain people for sure.

It was also nice to crush our rival, which is so rare with the men.

That is interesting. Shows the students are not completely disinterested. I don't think there have more than 50 students at any men's game this year and they've been promoting men's games for students as well. Perhaps the students do care, but only support products that actually not just going through the motions.

I wonder also how much NIL impacts student vs student relationships. Our men's teams are essentially paid employees of the University, often around for just a season or two, so I wonder how other students view them, probably less as peers than we did in our day.

Have wondered the same about the NIL. Not unique to Richmond, but may have an impact. Harder to have that same spirit for a guy getting paid to be on campus for one year.
