Tyler Burton in the pros

Watching the Grizzlies is a lot like watching the Spiders. A lot of flying dutchman. Took until the 4th quarter for the Grizzlies to get an offensive rebound tonight.

The Grizz are staying within arm's reach of the Rockets, but Tyler's having a rough night. Finally hit his first bucket on his 8th shot. 0-for-5 from deep. Has gotten 17 minutes on the court so far and still over a quarter left to play.

Edit: Houston wins, 119–109. Tyler with just 5 points on 2-for-10 shooting in 25 minutes. Also picked up a couple of boards, an assist, and a steal.

I don’t know if Burton will ultimately get a roster spot but he definitely looks like he belongs out there and makes meaningful contributions in terms of points and rebounding. Hoping he can be the 12 or 13 guy on a roster next season.

As much as I loved Gilly’s game, it just didn’t seem to translate up from the G-league to NBA. Unfortunately his height would also always be a factor against him as well.

Burton at 6’7” could play the 3 or the 4 spot. He’s athletic, has a good jump shot, and can drive to the basket. Would be awesome if he got an opportunity in the league.

As a slight tangent, it bugs me that ESPN and other places will list him as being from Villanova just because he played there last. He played 4 years at UR and got a degree. He’s a Richmond guy all the way and I bet if you asked Tyler who he would want to rep more he’d say UR.

Burton continuing to get minutes. In the broadcast the current Grizzlies lineup says the players are 4 gaurds and a small forward, with Burton being the small forward. Crazy. He has 15 points so far.
