Transfer Portal

Our redshirt program at UR is costing us one year of loss from our players that are leaving. They get a free year towards their degree and we lose them on the back side not playing for us after they get their degree?🏈🕷️🕸️
Exactly. No G6 or FCS program should ever redshirt anyone if they can help you, whatever their year in school.

The second they get a chance, they'll bail.

O'Haire missed a chip shot against Michigan State last weekend that would have tied the game late...Terp fans were not happy about it.

But he was the first-team All-Big Ten kicker, so he clearly did plenty right this season. Guess his agents should be able to demand an even bigger NIL package for next year.
Thanks, I just looked up Stats on Maryland website.

Gallipoli, having you been doing extra reps to fine tune your humor?…carry on!

Go Spiders!
JMU blew it. Instead of hiring our entire athletic department staff, they picked Billy Napier from Florida as their coach.

JMU football will lapse into the lowest depths of mediocrity.

Chesney wil be taking a bunch of JMU players with him to UCLA including the QB and Ellis among a number of others.Wouldn’t be surprised if Seelmann ends up there.

I think the redshirting approach has been fine. Seelmann could help in 2024 so we played him. Guys like Haskett, Bruner, etc. weren't going to play over Jabril Hayes or Matthew Traynor, so redshirting last year made sense. Isaiah Dawson got hurt in 2024 fall camp, otherwise we might've seen him but still hard to take DeGennaro/Ellis off the field too often.

Had he not been hurt we might've seen Michael Creamer burn his redshirt at RB, very glad we played Geronomi all games. I don't think we'll shy away from playing the best immediately.

I can see the NCAA creating an academic division where there is a restricted transfer policy.
The other divisions would be wide open like current situation with unlimited NIL and unlimited
transfers. Honestly at this stage, it would not bother me for Spider football to move into the
academic arena since there is no such thing as amateur athletics in football (or basketball).

Wonder what Coleman is thinking now. Coach that lured him to JMU goes west taking his #1 QB and Napier coming in with plenty of contacts to bring in his preferred QB. Portal is a real gamble unless you get big money NIL or just like giving up a starting roll to watch others play and you root them on from the sidelines.

If Bruner enters we'll have both starting outside corners and safeties (based on last game of season) in the portal for the 2nd straight season.

What’s the answer 32counter?🏈🕷️🕸️
NIL,Revenue Sharing and new coach. Not sure Russ’ old school mentality is a fit anymore, particularly since he’s a coach that is overtly indifferent to a player leaving the program. With neither a change at the helm nor a change in philosophy,UR football will surely die on the vine. The ability to maintain optimism for the sport will rapidly fade for alumni-spectators,coaches,and players alike. It already has..UR doesn’t not have the cache of Ivy schools where players remain loyal to their alma mater’s academic heritage while earning a degree and still playing at least 4 years.Other Patriot schools student athletes seemingly have a similar student-athlete loyalty to Iheir alma mater rather than UR.

I believe something akin to this is what UR was looking for with the move to the Patriot League…shelter from the current chaos of the Portal, NIL, agents etc.

Go Spiders!

"Die on the Vine" Couldn't agree more. NIL, Transfer Portal,P5's along with the core of the football alumni base with Virginia roots having aged and aging out! Look at empty seats for home games. We couldn't sell out Richmond/W&M game last year. The demographics of the school and the Richmond metro unfortunately has resulted in a "we could care less" mentality. Then add to it the size of the school and the BOT mission stmt.

I am just thankful for the many great times that I had at games over the years. RIP
