Scrimmages/Exhibitions

Did I miss this, who are we scrimmaging?Seeing a lot of motivated mid majors lining up big opponents. Another area where Mooney does the absolutely bare minimum.
Ones I know just off the top of my head:
Roanoke native HC Russell Turner and Irvine at UCLA.
Loyola Marymount hosting USC
VCU at Villanova
UCLA at SDSU
USC at USD.

Just the ones I know of in teams of interest to me.

Richmond: Let's hope no one notices us until the A10 tournament.

We just slip more into oblivion with every passing day of this regime.

But they provide a warm and caring environment. Źzzzzzzzzzzzzzźz

We’re scrimmaging JMU, which I think might be an open scrimmage. Per the Spider Podcast there may be another closed scrimmage against Mount Saint Mary’s.

Scrimmage planned against JMU at Robins that I believe will be open to the public.

All of these other scrimmages are open, with most charging. I know SDSU/UCLA are planning to use ticket sales to fund NIL. Will ours be closed? Can someone link the announcement I can't seem to find it.

There is a distinction between scrimmage and exhibition. Last year we scrimmaged old dominion and had an exhibition against the D2 team

We should be playing in front of fans. Heard one of the coaches talking about how playing "for real" in front of the fans puts a lot more pressure on and helps accelerate getting ready for early season games. Again, we seem to be on the long game path.

So its an exhibition. OK I did find it in the announcement of the schedule on the official site. Funny enough, the AI bot in Chrome cannot find it either, which seems to be how we like things. Better than a secret scrimmage as Mooney will need to have some urgency so as not to be pantsed. I know that was the theme in practice around urgency, but I will believe it when I see it on the court.

Details will be released on or about October 23rd.

I believe you get two? What's the other one? I feel like the earlier you can get one in the better. More time for young guys to see real game speed. I think it just forces everyone to get ready , get in game mindset and the following and preceding practices in game mind set earlier. Again, I am seeing all these teams with 2 on the schedule. We may have that, but as usual we are trying to hide the program and activity to the highest degree.

probably a closed door scrimmage. don't think they go on the public schedule.

Again, if that is the case: weak.

Hearing top coaches talk about how having to play with the lights turned on and fans in the stands accelerates readiness and shows who can handle the pressure among newer guys. But just like everything Hardt and Mooney, they like to operate in the shadows.
