Say it ain't so ...

UVA presser:

Was interesting to watch this. Never really thought about the difference in competition level between the A10 and ACC in Women’s basketball, but the contrast stood out to me in this press conference. Roussell definitely jumped in the deep end and what I saw in the staffers that he brought with him was closer to fear than excitement. Roussell is definitely in the kid in the candy store phase of the process and we will see how he adjusts to coaching in the big money environment. No doubt that he is going to miss significant parts of coaching at Richmond.

I thought his pointing out his staff asking about contacting a particular top P4 player in the portal was interesting since he made it seem like this would not have been attempted before but now YES we are UVA. Competing against Duke, UNC and Louisville and an intense rivalry with Tech is going to bring more pressure for sure even with all the added support staff.

Maybe he'll come crawling back to Richmond in a few years. He was very content here, less pressure, and still on the trajectory for high success. The pressure he may be feeling may make it tough to be himself and keep team chemistry the way he was so good at doing.

Sorry, I want him to succeed, makes us look better. And I want Kresge to succeed so much and love UR so much that the job doesn't come open for 10-15 years.
