Say it ain't so ...

I’m more worried about incoming class than current roster. With Doogan and Ullstrom graduating, I can only see Sweeney being the player he’d want to have at UVA when thinking about the wider net that UVA can cast with their resources to attract the best talent in the country. Sweeney will be a senior though. Has a chance to finish a hall of fame career at UR and may be less inclined to transfer with only a year left.

Our incoming class on the other hand is a different story. Most worried about Fontana and Gribble. Roussell visited them after UVA had reached out to him to gauge interest and Roussell then knowing he was going to take the UVA job.

Man it didn’t even cross my mind this morning listening on the radio with him possibility. Double sting since I hate UVA.

He’s earned it though and grateful for his time here. It’s a great move for him. Best of luck, except against us.
Sorry you hate UVa; it is a rather great place to go to school. I know because I graduated there. I very much wanted Aaron to stay, but for me I will remain a fan of his. UVA is my second favorite school to root for because I was Spider bred.

So my take on no comment from Roussell isn't so much that things went sour between the parties but rather that Roussell understands that with us with no head coach at the moment, the time is right for us him to recruit oor incoming class (and current roster) and he can't be so two-faced as to say how great Richmond was/is while actively raiding the cupboard at the same time. I don't worry about the current team as much as the incoming class. Note the " as much" language. Worried about both quite frankly. But he will no doubt lose some of UVA's incoming class and will look to the kids he recruited here as his best shot to fill the void.
Philly that is my concern and he brings Radice with him who was most likely involved with a lot of
the recruits.

No need to apologize, you do you. I never said I was no longer a fan of his, and very complimentary of his time here and even wished him luck. I am not hoping he fails. That does not mean I have to root for him or have a vested interest in his success at a school I have actively despised since my childhood. I'm not sure why this is controversial.

For a school like Richmond to have sustained success, as much as this sucks it needs to be the status quo. See VCU with their revolving door of coaches. If the program succeeds like we want it to, the coach will get poached.

With the fluid nature of the portal a new coach can find players. It does seem the timing is a reminder of London’s “I got out coached “ exit game and immediate hire and i64w. Rousell’s silence is deafening.

I did read a written thank you to the school from Roussell. Listening to his press conference on
Monday may tell us a lot. We also don’t know what was offered him from UR in extension of contract.
I was in healthcare for 40 years and I remember in the first 15 years I changed jobs 4 times, with each
time a step up and I was recruited by each company. Twice involved buyouts which were not good for
me. Point is truthfully this is step up for him and he gave us six strong years. I am grateful for the positive
position he left the women’s program in and now up to our Admin to keep it going.

Carolina I have not seen the note or any other mention. I congratulate him on moving up. His promotion shows the successful state of the program that languished for so many years. Some kind words of encouragement to the school and program and team to continue the success would have gone a long way.
Now for the replacement, that’s on the administration to prove themselves able to continue the upward trajectory of the program.

Edit, looks like a good upward hire!

Saw Roussell outside the Queally Center this morning, probably cleaning out the last of his stuff. I understand Radice did interview for the head job, but I assume she will follow Roussell down the road now.

I wish them both good luck. Can't blame AR at all, it's a job at a P4 school, in a great place to live, and with minimal disruption for his family. Such is the nature of his business.

Hopefully he will deign to schedule us in the future, on a home-and-home basis. Quite frankly Virginia's OOC schedule was embarrassing, almost exclusively at home against cupcake opponents. It certainly could use some upgrading.
