No the school was not associated. I paid to keep the board going for years. In the beginning, before we got so negative the cut from Rivals actually paid for the board and put in a few extra bucks that went in donations to UR.
Interesting that Rivals actually had a pay out portion at some point. I guess that was the early way to grow an audience. On3's model is to drive eyeballs away.

Thanks URFan1. Carryon!

I hadn't been able to access the Rivals page for a couple months? I hated it and was frustrated, but I just figured it was an issue on my end that I didn't have time to fix at present. I'd try multiple times/week and just gave up.

At some point, recently, I literally typed into google: 'What happened to the Richmond Rivals Forum?' and it took me to a Facebook? page that then directed me here.

What did happen with the old site? And forgive me, I know I'm late to the party, but for whichever individual/individuals took the time to set this up.... thank you very, very much.

Welcome, Vegas!

On3 bought out Rivals from Yahoo effective July 1. They are migrating the various Rivals sites over to their platform, but little sites like ours got left in the lurch with no firm timeline for getting migrated. And On3 requires paid subscriptions to participate in their forums at all, which isn’t going to work for our small community anyway.

Thank you! We're clearly not all on the same page all the time, lol.... but it's home, and I have no doubt we all care very deeply for it. Not having access to it for a while certainly highlighted that.

Thanks again for making sure there was a place for everyone.

Slow and steady we’re rebuilding our community. Glad to see people still finding this forum. A google search for “Richmond spider forum” now shows this site on the first page which is great. Between posting about this on Reddit, Facebook, Twitter, the Spider Podcast, and now front page Google search, hopefully we will continue to bring in old and new posters. Some notable members were missing that I can remember from the top of my head: EightLegger, SpiderTrap, SpiderRick, WoodHall, GKiller, Mr(something), PAWSpider. Hopefully they find their way here soon.

The last Wayback Machine archive of the old spiderfans.com from April 2003 before things got switched back over to Rivals. And at one point the administration asked us to change from SpiderFans to SpiderNation, but again, I don't recall the exact circumstances of that.

NCAA decided it did not want reference to fans in name on message board, Never heard good reason why?
