MLAX

Solid conference is debatable. We would still be in the same position where we have a razor thin margin of error with any conference losses. As we saw last year the NCAA seeding is everything. I strongly believe if we had played anyone but Cornell in the quarterfinals we would have made it to the semis, and from there who knows. Richmond in the A-10 lacrosse conference puts a ton of pressure on each conference game and there is no guarantee we can continue scheduling well out of conference. I hope there is a different path than the full big east participation because that ain't happening thanks to Mooney.

UMass' women's lax team tried to do that and stay in the A10 for WLax. Of course got promptly shut down. MAC sponsors women's lacrosse. UMass will be in the MAC conference. It's very simple that way. A10 MLax is not holding us back. We are literally #1 in the country right now and a contender for a national title. We can be the Gonzaga of men's lacrosse. Our team has never been more popular in the media in the history of this program. Getting lots of recognition. Recruits are certainly recognizing this. 2,196 people attended the game against Hobart. 2,082 attended against Delaware. We are getting 2K+ people to games against bad teams like Hobart and Delaware (this year). That is incredible.

We absolutely can get top games every year. We are incredibly well respected. We are at the point now where we are a great win on a team's resume and "not a bad loss". Not a lot of at-larges in MLax. Teams want resume boosting opportunities. We can call up any team in the country and they will definitely pick up the phone to play us. In fact they have. They've also come to play us here every year since our inception. Our goal should be 1) Get into the Big East. If not that, then become the Gonzaga of Men's lacrosse and try and help the A10 become a better conference. This starts by getting rid of Hobart and hoping the Bonnies drop MLax.

Hobart was not permitted to offer lax scholarships until just a few years ago, but they should be bearing the fruits of that change at this point, so I'm not sure how much hope there is for significant improvement.
