Jack McCaffery - Transfer Commit

Very exciting since he has not yet played D1 basketball and was a high level high school recruit. Quite the mystery. It really enables us to wildly speculate

Well would you look at that, another player that every program in the A10 wanted and the staff that gets hyper-criticized at every turn here are the ones that sealed the deal.
Again, I’ll bite because I know you’re trying to troll. Kudos to us landing a solid transfer in Jack even though he hasn’t had the stats at a high level to back it up so jury is still out whether he will be an impact player or like GW3 for us. On paper he looks good.

First of all, the recruiting of at least 2 of these players is directly because of Mojo. Doubt we would’ve landed them without him. Still, give credit to our staff for bringing Mojo back.

Secondly, landing these players should be the expectation not the exception. Not just with transfers but with high school recruits that we have had a ton of misses on recently. It is possible for us to bring in top 100 caliber recruits. The same way it is possible for us to schedule good teams if we wanted to and is possible for Mooney to change his offensive system. When the staff feels pressure, all of a sudden these things that were “so hard to do” like landing top players to come to little ole academically rigorous Richmond, seems doable.

Point in all of this, is it can be done and it should be done on a consistent basis. Not when everyone is fed up with our coaching and they’re finally feeling the pressure again. It’s also on Hardt not to give out unnecessary extensions anymore because I don’t want us to have one good season and then 3 more awful seasons before the staff feel the pressure again.

According to this he is worth 183 K

Who knows how accurate this is.

Has Kaiser at 591 K

Andrew Ball at 23K.

So we should have more budget left.
I don’t think that’s accurate. I have no inside info here but I would think Kaiser is definitely hovering around a million, Jack is probably closer to $500K, and Ball probably around $200-300K.

23's numbers sure seem more reasonable.
not being critical of Ball, but a 6th man at Monmouth in what I assume is a no or very little NIL league averaging 8 and 4 doesn't feel like a guy that should be getting $250k.

His older brother played against us in the NCAA game in Buffalo in 2022, scored 18 points.

Seems like a very good get. Our coach in waiting is killing it in the portal.

Interesting, Beagle below Tanner, Homenick & Richardson below Mooney…

If that’s the case and we’re operating with $4-5 million budget where is the money going?

Looking through that website it has (rounding for ease of math):
Kaiser - $600K
Argabright - $600K
Deuce - $100K
Tanner - $150K
Richardson - $25K
Homenick - $25K
Kirby Mooney - $50K
Will Harper - $125K
Andrew Ball - $25K
McCcaffrey - $200K

That’s $1.9 million right there.

Let’s say by this data Dorries is getting $600K for $2.5 million total. That means we have $1.5-2.5 million left to spend on 3 more transfers and Caldwell and Cook as freshmen. I’m not buying that.

First off Kirby should be getting $0 NIL let alone $50K. Tanner should not be getting ~$150K either. Plus, Mooney said in an interview that some players are getting no NIL, which I imagine the redshirt freshmen would be the case. This website tries to give the fair market value not what those players received exactly. I imagine we gave considerably more for the top transfer targets to lure them away from other P4 interest that I’m sure at least Kaiser and Dorries received.

Okay, after 2 terrible years, these additions are trying to get me excited again. We still need another good guard with size, but so far, so good. But, one thing that would get me down again is if we play another garbage OOC schedule. I don't think guys are transferring here from Butler to play a bunch of garbage teams OOC. We really need to schedule some good teams this year. I don't care if it is road only for power teams. Find good teams!!!!!

Agree. But I'm of opinion you play hard schedule every year and force yourself to build a team that can win some tough games.

Still think we need two more good two way players, with one being a legit bucket getter.

Agree on both. I want a good, solid schedule every year. Not too hard tho. Just give me 2 or 3 majors and 3 or 4 good mid majors. And I would love to add a bucket getting guard with size and maybe another guard as well.

Last time you did a victory lap like this (after the Mason game in February), we promptly lost 8 of our last 9 games. Maybe pump the brakes.
