Gosh, no forks and butter pats stuck to the ceiling!

The new D Hall is much nicer, obviously. But I loved the Refectory, especially when it was still single-sex. You saw all your friends and really everyone from our side of the lake, so you at least knew most of your classmates by sight. And it was great when they opened the side room at 10 p.m. or so during winter exams for hot chocolate and donuts.

I liked the big UR logo on the wall above the food line. And once they introduced the salad bar/deli bar (1974?) the quality of the food improved greatly. I remember George Allen getting big ovations when he came in with Bruce after Saturday home football games.

Unlimited soda in those small glasses, and as much ice cream as you wanted.
