Game Thread - @ Elon - Wed 12/17 7pm (FLO)

Shooting a totally different story in 2nd half. 60% in first and 34% in 2nd (only 25% from three. Part of it is certainly we aren't getting the same looks!

Game over. Wouldn’t say most embarrassing recent loss because we’ve certainly had more embarrassing losses last year. Although the way we lost with taking 2 terrible shots and lastly dribbling the ball off our leg to tie the game was not good. I’m not upset or shocked by the loss. It just reaffirms what we knew going into this game: we’re a decent team whose record is better than we actually are because of the easiness of the schedule. We’ve played 5 decent/good teams OOC: Furman, Belmont, So Illinois, Elon, and W&M. 3-2 record against them. I think that will translate to 8-10 conference wins.

Really just got kinda handled in the 2nd half. No answers for the zone to get good shots (and didn't shoot well when we got some), perimeter defense was awful in 2nd half by and large, turnovers killed us especially the flurry right after we got a 9 point lead early in 2nd half and had a chance to really take charge and gave up three (open) 3's in three possessions while missing 4 shots and turning it over twice before we could score again.

Mooney’s approach to giving up wide open 3’s drives me crazy. The other night vs SI there was one wide open 3 where I think my seats were closer to the shooter than any of our defenders. Next time down court another wide open 3. Wish someone would call Mooney out on his approach.

So if we look at the season so far, we have beaten almost exclusively bad teams playing at home. Playing teams around 150ish (using KenPom numbers) neutral or away, we are 0-2. And we have 1 good win against Belmont. Which result is starting to look like the aberration?

A-10 could go either way in my opinion (and by either way I mean we could MAYBE get to .500 in conference or maybe just slide into oblivion and win 4 games. This team is riding the energy that (to their credit) they have created, but if some losses start to pile up, you have to wonder if it will start to sap the energy.
