Check in on A10 average attendance numbers

Saw this on Twitter and as such not sure of its accuracy, but I do know the UR numbers are close so figure it is good enough for discussion.

First observation is Dayton is really in another league when to comes to support. Really surprised that they aren’t in a Power conference. One good coaching change and they will be very hard to catch.

Second observation is this is another stat showing that Fordham and LaSalle don’t belong. Guess Fordham has the New York market banner to hold onto but little else.

Third, amazed at how close the support numbers are for the 2 St Joe’s teams.

Fourth, the UR athletic department really did the women’s team a disservice. Easily should be the Women’s program with the best attendance. Nearly are now, but if they got half the support they did for Code Red in all their games there would be no doubt.

Last, what a lost opportunity for Men’s basketball. Top tier fan support and bottom tier results. Not nearly as good as it could be either as I am sure the numbers are definitely down this year.

When there is no energy or marketing and the product is trending down attendance will follow. Just look at how many Friday night A-10 showcase games Dayton, VCU and St. Louis are featured in this year.

I don't believe that VCU has had any Saturday home games this year.
That's right. They had Dayton, Loyola on Friday night, St. Joes was a weekend game but was shifted to King Day Monday, and then they do have Fordham on a Saturday later in Feb.

They did play Coppin on the Saturday before Thanksgiving at Siegel

Count on our numbers being lower next year if we still have the wedding planner as coach.

It's a weird dynamic. They pay him like a top coach. But the messaging, lack of effort (from communications to game day to scheduling etc) say low major. Really the plausible explanations are he is good buddies with PQ, or Hardt is just riding out the string or a combo. If they really do think they are trying they are very delusional.

Im Surprised GMU is so low, place seats 10k and they haven’t been garbage.

Many people in high up positions are just outright delusional. Hardt is here on a retirement gig and didnt he have connections to Queally before he got the job? PQ is our shadow AD.

Absolutely amazing that as soon as a VCU question is posed on this board, that you immediately have a detailed answer to said question. It's almost as if you are a fan of VCU or something. Anyway, please go on, about you how great Mooney is for us.

This was noted in another post but the amount of tickets available on Tuesday for a Saturday night game against our “rivals” is shocking - I recommend going over to our tickets sales site and taking a look. So either we will have a lot of empty seats or the biggest VCU crowd since we started limiting sales for this game until the last minute.

Hopefully the people in charge are paying attention.

Curiouser and curiouser.

For attendance in general, we've had terrible weather the last month, along with a terrible on-court product and a very lackluster fan experience compared to what we have created in the past. But yet we have raised ticket prices and apparently eliminated all, or almost all, of the promotions that are available to the general public. One does not need to be a UR business school graduate to know that if all of those factors exist, attendance will drop, and probably dramatically.

As for the game Saturday, it IS Valentine's Day, and a three-day weekend for many. So perhaps many who would normally attend would not because of one or both of those factors.
