CAA vs. Patriot League

Rollspides.com once again provides an outstanding analysis- this time he compares the CAA to the Patriot League. It is worth the read. The CAA has blown it.

By the way, will the Patriot League allow athletic redshirts? I understand that graduate transfers are still not allowed.

Villanova's top two players this season were grad transfers. Nova would not have made the semi-finals without them.

Great article RollSpides which analytically looks at what many of us saw trajectory wise with the 2 conferences. The PL has an opportunity to be a top conference in the country and perhaps best in the east coast. If teams like us, W&M, Villanova, Lehigh can all be consistently very good and teams like Holy Cross, Lafayette, and Bucknell can improve to their potential, it’ll be a really fun league to watch.

Scathing indictment of the CAA. Yes, the PL has improved a little, but it's shocking how far the CAA has fallen between FBS move-ups, weak replacements demonstrating an emphasis on quantity over quality, and now three of the stalwarts gone in a quasi-lateral move to a conference they believe has more potential.

Patriot League needs to get very serious about football and quit playing Ivy League lite. Have a chance to be the dominant East Coast league, seize the opportunity. Our league academic bona fides will not be sullied by evening the rules with the rest of FCS.
Great points KE. Each of the PL teams has been hurt by the portal, NIL and the House settlement. The Patriot League football teams have to respond to the new norm. This can't be like 30 years ago, when the PL refused to even offer athletic scholarships.
