You don’t agree with Gallipoli that VCU is a 6 seed and UNC an 11?
That was an error in transcription. Espn.com projected VDU as an 11 seed.

I am disappointed. They should have been ahead of SMU. However if they had lost today and been behind SMU I would have not been disappointed.

Bottom line is that Miami(o) was getting the one token non-Power 5 bubble at-large bid and there was no way they were giving another. Thus no VCU had they lost.
That said, I think they did it well with Miami(O) being in the play in. I would think they are the lowest rated schedule ever to get an at-large and just don't look good on any metric that is typically used. Kudos to the committee for looking past that and properly rewarding them with the chance to prove themselves!

EL, let's say they decided they won't have 3 A-10 teams in the field. How does that even come up in conversation? Not saying you are definitely wrong in thinking that, but wondering how that could happen. Let's say they have VCU ahead of SMU before today. Who even brings it up to the committee that they would have 3 A-10 teams in there in Dayton wins? There are different ADs in the room, including mid majors. Who would try to say that in front of a mid major AD? And, how could they even discuss that?

Santa Clara got a 10 seed, so I wouldn't say Miami got the lone non P5 bubble bid. And, mutiple non P5 bubble teams have gotten bids in past years, including as recent as 2024, when both Col St and Boise St (from the same conference, EL) got in, and were in the play in games.

Yeah I'm not saying it's fair, I just knew there was no way they would take three from our league when there really wasn't a lot of talk of even taking two until 2-3 weeks ago. If we did finish as the seventh-best league, we deserve three, but it wasn't going to happen.
As for the internal discussions, I have no idea how that stuff goes down, but I do think they probably look at OOC record of a conference against good teams to try to ascertain for themselves how strong the league actually was.
