The Spiders open the season at 1 p.m. Friday by hosting Monmouth at Pitt Field. Games 2 and 3 of the series are Saturday and Sunday, also at 1 p.m.

I'm hearing the weather is supposed to improve finally. Get out to Pitt Field and support the team.

Ha ha, I'll be in sunny, 75-degree Arizona, cheering on Oregon State in their season-opening tournament at Surprise Stadium. It's an annual tradition and there will be up to 3k Beaver fans there.

Who was that one poster who provided very detailed baseball analysis on our team? I think it was Tobias something. Hopefully he can come back and contribute to this forum again. He provided very good and much appreciated insight!
Tobias Ketchup or Catsup, I believe.

Can't say I'm expecting much this season...we just lost so much talent from last year to graduation and the portal. While I'm tired of all the whining about transfers and NIL from other programs, it's basically going to be impossible for us to keep any young talent with the lack of $$$ we can put into baseball.

We did lose a lot of talent from last years team. However, that team also finished 7th and missed the A-10 tournament. Michael Elko is a great player to build around and pitching should be improved so if we can get better as the season goes and get in the top 6 we may can make some noise in the tournament. Go Spiders!

Opening Day Spider Roster

CF RJ Johnson
C Dylan Winebrenner
DH Sean Scanlon
LF Khris Morris
2B Michael Elko
1B Ryan Recio
3B Aidan O’Keefe
RF Trevor Dosenbach
SS Noah Haught
P Jackson Hinchcliffe

Spiders down 1–0 in the top of the third and Monmouth has the bases loaded with one out to threaten more. Only one hit for the Spiders through the first two innings, and they've struck out four times already.

Sunday's game is being moved up, so doubleheader tomorrow for games 2 and 3.

Edit: Hawks add two runs in the third, but it could have been worse. Spiders down 3–0.

Live stats died in the top of the 5th for some reason, but video stream is going. Spiders got one in the 5th thanks to an Elko leadoff double as the Monmouth left fielder couldn't make a shoestring catch on a hit toward the gap. That was followed by a walk to Recio, a sac bunt by AOK to move the runners up, and a single by Dosenbach to bring Elko home. Unfortunately, Recio then got thrown out easily at home trying to score on a pop-out to shallow right. It looked like he thought the throw was going to second as Recio was advancing, so he got a late start and was out by a mile when the throw came home.

Heading to the bottom of the 6th, Spiders down 3–1.

Leadoff double by Johnson, Winebrenner HBP, and a sac bunt by Scanlon to move them up has the Spiders in business.

Edit: Morris single to left plates one run. Runners on the corners with one out and Elko coming to the plate.

Edit 2: Elko hits the first pitch up the middle and the SS can't handle it, scoring another run. All tied up at 3.

Edit 3: Recio groundout moves the runners up, and then AOK tries to bunt for a hit but gets nipped by a fingernail diving for the bag to end the inning.

Bah, Monmouth gets an RBI bunt single in the top of the 9th. 4–3 Hawks heading to last ups for the Spiders.

Terrible start for the Spiders as Glenn Smith can't get out of the first inning. 5–0 Hawks and they left the bases loaded.

Spiders get a Winebrenner homer in the bottom of the first to get one back, but obviously still in a hole.
