2026 portal offers

To date:

We’ve garnered a commitment from no transfers

Of the 13 players that entered the transfer portal,3 players have committed to other schools.

Wonder how many portal players are returning before 2nd semester begins on Monday?

if the eleven portal entrants who have not committed do not receive offers, or receive offers they decline, would Coach Huesman invite them back, or take them back if they asked to return?

as I understand it the window to enter the Portal closes on January 15...is there a time window for offers to those in the Portal to be made and accepted, or is that indefinite?

Thanks!

Go Spiders!

Given Huesman doesn't seem to care whether guys stay or go, have to assume he'd welcome them back with no ill feelings unless their spots have been taken.

Once players are in the portal, there is no deadline for offers to be made or accepted.

Because 8 of the 13 are grad transfers, I imagine they are staying to graduate in May (I sure hope so). So at a disadvantage in that they wouldn't do spring ball but it does give them more time.
I’m sure grad transfers are going to complete their degrees. The more interesting cases are the undergraduates. If you are going to transfer you do want to get to the other school ASAP because credits often don’t transfer 1:1. But perhaps this is something that isn’t well understood going into the process.

These guys are hiring agents not academic advisors so I'm not sure they really care.

Given how Maryland stole our kicker, I doubt the portal even matters. The NCAA won't enforce the rules.
This begs the question- are there any enforceable recruiting rules anymore?

It's a little unclear to me how the timing played out with O'Haire. The spring portal window last year was April 16–25. I know he visited Maryland on May 2 and committed on May 3. We seemed to have been taken by surprise, so I'm unsure if he did enter the portal during the window or if he was somehow able to get an exception to enter late.

There is no spring portal window this year, but yes, there are exceptions to this single January window. It's supposed to be limited to guys on teams still playing, coaching changes, and perhaps a few hardship scenarios. But who knows what the NCAA can/will enforce.

IIRC, Maryland approached our kicker outside of the portal, invited him for a visit, offered him 50k and signed him up. Maryland didn't even alert Richmond until it was over.
