2025 Richmond Spiders Football - Prologue - Fordham

it was great to celebrate the off week along with the team, but I have to admit after three consecutive seasons of almost sudden death Championship and Playoff football in November, my football spirit is simmering, not boiling!

but you know what, all it'll take to get the football mojo burning again will be a spirited effort and impressive win over forlorn Fordham Saturday...

the Bronx Rams seem every bit of almost 100 years removed from "the seven blocks of granite days"...I have no doubt they'll give us everything we want, but we haven't played a full complimentary game against a PL opponent this season...it's about time for one...

more rested, healthier and refocused on improvement, November is the Spiders chance to salvage something from this disappointing season...in the good old days some would call these November games one's played for pride...I hope we show all we have Saturday at The Brick House...

finally, I'd be remiss if I didn't acknowledge and thank Fordham for helping prepare two of Richmond's finest ever coaches Dick Tarrant and Dave Clawson...thanks Rams!

enjoy the Prologue!

Go Spiders!

Back to the beach to talk about Fordham football. The Spider game plan will be as certain as the tide, but I believe the Spiders will win a one score differential game.

The players are all talking the right talk about going 1-0 each week and with the extra rest should definitely have enough to get a win versus the Rams. I’m less confident about the rest of the games, but predict they will all be close. Go Spiders!

The SG as a group predicts a Spider win- 10 votes for the Spiders, 0 for the Rams. Even the Chief, the lone dissenter from the last game and who picked Holy Cross to win, has sided with the Spiders. So far the SG majority has gone 6-2 on the season. If they are right, the SG will be 7-2 on the year after this weekend. This is a resounding vote of confidence for the Spiders. I have to heartily agree. The winner exits the league basement.

Rarely has Spides used this volume of stats to demonstrate how poorly a UR opponent has played…the numbers have clearly bolstered his optimism that the Spiders can start November in the uptick.

He’s usually right, but this year has been full of usually unpleasant surprises. Let’s hope we put it all together tomorrow!

Go Spiders!

"Since 2021, UR is 11-1 in regular season November games. An insane run the last four seasons and seeing that continue is important no matter our playoff standing."

Yet we still have posters here saying he can't coach. Go figure.
