2025–26 opponent tracking

If Dayton beats VCU in the final I think there is a real possibility of a 3 bid A10 assuming no more bid thieves. VCU is going to root for Utah State over SDSU and Ole Miss to not win the SEC tournament.
I'd say there's no chance of three A10 teams. They'd take the winner and SLU and give the other spot to Auburn or Indiana.

Problem for VCU is that three A10 teams are not getting in. So if SLU or vcu doesn't win it, which one of them is getting left out? vcu.
Why do u say this? Committee has said they never look at this as a factor when deciding on teams? A team that steals a bid steals ir from the last team in, regardless of conference.

Because they never reward a conference like the A10. All year long this has been a one-bid leaguer. I can't see any way it becomes a three-bid league overnight.

because it was never a likely 1 bid league? it's the #7 ranked conference. we see the warts day in and day out, but few conferences are better.
yes, with some other outcomes it could have been a one bidder. but many times we could have only gotten one bid before something happened late like the #1 seed losing.

VCU has been in most brackets for a few weeks now. So, a Dayton/St Joe's win could give the A-10 3 and not 2, which is no different than any other scenario when a bid stealer gets a bid.

But, in this scenario, VCU and SLU do not want anymore bid stealers out there. SLU could be headed to the play in games like VCU might be. Both teams have less Q1/Q2 wins and more Q3/Q4 wins than most bubble teams out there. Neither resume is that impressive, but lucky for them, the bubble is really bad this year.

If you believe this, I've got some beachfront in Oklahoma that needs a buyer...
I do believe this based on the history of the selections. When has what EL said would happen happened? I have heard the committee say they don't don't do that when asked after a conference DOES get an extra bid. And, they say the same thing every year...."no, we don't look at conferences for number of teams."

So, let's say they have VCU as the 4th team safely in on their chart, and then Dayton beats them tomorrow, u think they will leave VCU out and keep their last team in in? This makes no sense.

SLU, VCU, Dayton being in semi finals is only going to reinforce the admin’s mindset that NIL is too play. Of course ignoring the fact we lost in the pillow fight after being ahead by 15 to an 8 win Loyola team. The game after we lost after being ahead to a mediocre Duquesne team. But I am willing to bet that at some interview in the future regarding NIL, Mooney will bring this point up.

vcu wasn't shown as being "in" until about two weeks ago. So yeah, all year long it's been a one-bid league. And certainly no one has talked about it being a three-bid league. If I'm wrong, so be it, but I would bet a fortune on there being no chance we get three.

If ever there was a scenario to get three, it’s happening. SLU will be in, and VCU is destroying Joe’s. If Dayton wins a tight one tomorrow and there aren’t other bid stealers, I can absolutely see the A-10 getting three bids.

I thought if the 2nd team out loses by 1 to NET 70 that means the 6th team out gets in without playing a game…

if VCU wins is that 14 wins in 15 games? and yet I see power conf. teams going 3-7 last 10 but since they are mostly good losses, it's okay. As if consistently losing to the teams who will be in the tournament means you also should be in the tournament? This is always my biggest issue - teams that have proven they do not deserve a bid because they simply can't win a decent amount of their good games. They prove they do not belong by consistently losing. That's where the conference props them up - by giving them great SOS numbers because they play and lose against Michigan and Purdue twice.

Unfortunately VCU will be in the tournament again. With a first year coach. A coach who would’ve definitely come to UR if we offered. Same with Odom 2 years ago. Anyway, I digress.

I’ll be rooting for Dayton tomorrow. I’ve always like their fan base. They would deny VCU another title and it’ll give the A10 3 bids which will be good for our league reputation.

A 10 isn't getting 3 bids

VCU has made the A10 final 10 out of 13 years it’s been in the conference which held a tournament (did not have one in 2020). An incredible stat.
