Mooney’s Coaching Tree (including former players)

every coach worth his salt would "choose" coaching in the SEC or ACC over coaching at Richmond. it's just not usually a choice. I doubt Ivy coaches get paid anywhere near what we pay here. Hovde would jump at our offer. but Mooney is no where near retiring. as for Hovde going to a...

we're averaging 60 shots per game. 33 twos and 27 threes ... plus 26 FTs. last year we averaged 54 shots. 29 twos and 25 threes ... plus only 17 FTs. some has to be attributable to the weaker competition (as last year's numbers include the A10 season). another factor is we're averaging a...

    Rotation and Minutes

we'll agree to disagree. stats guys are pretty good. if he throws a pass that should be handled, the guy receiving gets the turnover. but if it's the passer's fault they give it to the passer. and it sure seemed like you were saying 3 or 4 time per game he's not getting credited for...

    Rotation and Minutes

I guess we can question when the development occurred, but he played 47 minutes his entire freshman season and scored 0.7 ppg. he was mostly a non-factor as a soph, too. last year he became a good A10 center, and he's pretty much the same guy now. shooting is down a bit, rebounding up a bit.

wait, you think at least 3 or 4 times PER GAME the statisticians are missing Walz turnovers???

    Rotation and Minutes

I think Walz's development from freshman year is outstanding. still remember PhillySpider tempering our expectations early based on seeing him multiple times in high school. he's a much better player than I expected he'd become.

one more thing about Belmont ... for a team that looked really good for 90% of the game, they made some unbelievably poor decisions out there. some of their turnovers were mind boggling. like that one handed 90 mpg cross court pass attempt to Lundblade pretty late? wow.

77 NET and we haven't knocked ourselves out of the conversation early for a change. unfortunately, this may be seen as validation of CM's current scheduling philosophy.

I want to root for this team so badly

he may not have the 3 point shot, but I'm actually impressed with his handle out there. looks pretty comfortable. plus makes nice cuts where he can finish, get fouled, or catch the alley-oop. yes, any time he gets a board inside he should be looking to score. especially with his quick...

I want to root for this team so badly

even if we lost last night, I'd have felt better about this team than I have all OOC. that Belmont team is good. love McClain, who has hands like Gilly. defense - we love to complain about our defense. every time we switch a guard onto a big or aren't right in the face of a 3 point...

I want to root for this team so badly

it is strange, though. in transfer recruiting, I would think any time you invite someone (and pay their costs to visit) that an offer is implied. you've already watched all the film and spoken multiple times on the phone.

gotcha. I thought his limited minutes at Indiana St had something to do with that.

I want to root for this team so badly

in fairness, I'm sure he wasn't the only big forward we were talking to and he did have some sort of heart issue.

    Rotation and Minutes

when you say exposed ... it he getting beat by bigger players when he's the small 5, or wing type players?

    that doesn't fit the narrative.
