Three Point Shooting

*23*

Every offseason, we think the coming season will be our best 3 point shooting team ever. Last off season and through the season, Mooney hyped the team as a great shooting team. I think we have been through that rodeo enought times to believe it won't happen.

But so far, this team has several players shooting it really well from 3:

AJ - 40% - which is what he shot last season
Johnston - .417 a little above what he shot at LMU
Tyne - .393 - which is a good jump from .27 last season.
David Thomas - .565 crazy good, and even better than his historic 40% as a freshman
Daughtry - .333 on only 9 attemps. Shot 40% last year and looks like a 40% 3pt shooter from his stroke.
Argabright - .308 - came in from HS known for his shooting, it looks good,
Walz - .412 - continuing strong showing from last season

That is 5 guys shooting around 40% or better. Pretty darn good if it can hold up anywhere close in A10 play.

We're currently ranked 108th in 3-point shooting at 35.7%, so pretty decent but not outstanding. Tanner and AP are shooting just as many threes as the other guys yet hitting less than 20%, so that's dragging us down.

Take those two guys out of the equation and we'd be shooting 39.8% as a team, which would be 20th in the nation.

AP needs to focus on driving to the hoop and short shots around the rim. Forget the 3.

I'm the same way, I see two out of three go in and I think I am Dell Curry.
I understand. How about, "if you make your first, you get 2 more, if you make one of those, you get 2 more, if you miss 2 in a row you stop shooting the 3. If you don't follow the rules you finish up sitting with me."
