Preseason Spider Basketball Event

Men’s and women’s basketball teams are hosting an event in 2 days to meet the players and preview the team. Can view women’s practice at 4:30 and men’s at 7 pm. $200 like last year for 1 ticket or $300 for 2. Glad they’re incorporating the women’s team this year. Wish they gave more than a 2 days heads up.

Two days notice is laughable. I get these things can be hard to organize, but it's almost like they didn't really want to promote this to the entire fan base. The pricing model is pretty suspect...I get this event isn't really marketed towards kids but I have to pay $600 if I want to bring my family of 4?

Seems like a great option if you're a wealthy donor but not so much if you're an everyday fan.

Because that's exactly the case.

"The Tip Off Reception is part of a year-long series of events offering in-depth, exclusive access to Spider basketball to select supporters."

It's a fundraiser for those able and willing to afford to buy access, not really a general fan event. And a taster to get people like that involved more heavily.

Pricing for one or two is the same as last year, though last year they had a $400 family option that I don't see for this year.

Hope @UR Fan 2 and @Tmac1205 are able to go to this event if possible. Would love to hear their thoughts and recap on one of the podcast episodes. Been enjoying the podcast very much so far!
They have already seen both teams practice, so I doubt they get any additional insight from this event. I definitely have enjoyed their shows and glad they decided to produce them.

I am sure the Forum will get a couple of viewpoints from folks that attend just like we did last year.

Meanwhile, the black and gold game at VCU is free, for everyone.
The JMU exhibition is supposed to be free and honestly I am much more interested in seeing the Spiders play the team that the staff is too scared to play in the regular season than an intra-squad scrimmage.

Why would we want to play JMU regular season when we’ve filled up the slot on the schedule from that part of the state with Southern Va? Maybe it can become an annual rivalry game.
