Game Thread - @ St. Bonaventure Wed 1/8 7pm ESPN+

Bonne is 11-3 overall and 0-1 in the A10 after falling to VCU last Wednesday. Figured they will be favored by 5 to 7 but hoping we take our 2026 winning streak to 2. No scoring projection since that approach worked for Fordham game.

All I know that Mr "It is really tough to win on the road", isn't winning 2 straight on the road.
We joke about this, but would love to be a fly on the wall in the locker room as to how he approches these games and the mindset he tries to instill. I feel like unfortunately the public commentary about how hard it is does seep into the locker room and his approach.

I mean he says it ALL of the time, the players don't live in a bubble, I'm sure it has to seep into them. Does it change how they play probably not, but it is the not the message I would want even entering into the discussion.

this is a big game. at some point, we need a "surprise win", and @ SBU qualifies.
I figured we'd beat Fordham and the loss to GW was no shock.
I "expect" to lose @ SBU and to win the next 2 home games against SJU and LaSalle, then lose @ SLU.
but we need to win some games that I expect to lose or we're going 8-10.
this would be a good one.

I would change it to "It is FUN to win on the road. Quieting the home crowd".

I assume we mostly stayed in NY as a cost-saving move? Cheaper to get a bus and hotel for a couple nights than the extra flights. And with school being out, it's not pressing that they get back to campus in between.

Bona is close to a 6-hour bus ride from NYC, so it's not like it was a short hop. We could have easily come home Sunday night and had a day and a half back on campus before heading to Bona tomorrow, but I guess the long bus ride was worth the cost savings, plus some team bonding and perhaps some sightseeing today.
