Got to catch Chad in action.
He had a very good start to the game.
Scored his team's first 7 points, on a put back, three, then an emphatic dunk driving down the lane. His most impressive bucket came a little later when he took his man off the dribble from the right wing, side/euro stepped a help defender and layed it in on the opposite side.
Then came foul trouble. Fouled a three point shooter. Then got called for a moving pick - which was a little iffy IMO. The other team smartly went right after him on the next play, and he leaned in on the shooter again. So that put him on the bench for most of the rest of the half. And had him playing a bit timid.
But I saw some really nice positives that echo the scouting reports. Big body, handles ball well, good passer and sees the court well, good footwork, pretty good looking shot. His team ended up losing by about 18 I think. Feel like if he could have avoided the foul trouble may have been closer, but IMG Academy was pretty loaded up and down the roster.
A St. Joe's assistant was there scouting and chatted with him a little bit. He was asking how Richmond looked, I said better than last year I think but weak schedule so hard to tell. He brought up the team with Jordan King, and said they (St. Joe's) got lucky to beat us in the A10 tournament. He said Coach Mooney was lucky to have fans like me. If he only knew
