2025 Richmond Spiders Football - Opponents Countdown - Lafayette

the Lafayette Leopards hold the most distinguished NCAA record of any Patriot League football team...their rivalry with Lehigh (the schools are 17 miles apart) has been played 160 times...the most between any two NCAA teams!...Richmond has only played the Indians 135 times...

this game closes out The Brick House regular season schedule and is the Spiders' final Patriot League game...maybe the Leopards will be looking ahead to their game versus Lehigh the following week?

Lafayette, led by 4th year coach John Troxell, is coming off of a 6-6, 2-4 PL 2024 record...the Patriot preseason poll tagged the Leopards for a 5th place finish...one publication cites 14 significant players coming back this season...ten of these are on the offensive side of the ball...they include a QB, 3 WRs and 5 OLL...Troxell, who also brought in a half dozen BCS transfers hopes the offense and his front seven on defense can build on the progress seen at the end of 2024...

one writer has gone out on a limb, calling the Leopards a Patriot League dark horse!

its the third week of "Championship November"...if the Spiders are still in the hunt for the PL Championship and a FCS Playoff bid this will be another giant game...combine that with the usual Senior Day festivities and it could make for a great afternoon at The Brick House!

don't look now, but real Spiders' football begins in just over a week...that means to everyone's relief that the Countdown and waiting for Lehigh is just about over!

enjoy the Countdown!...we'll talk about the other big rivalry soon...

Go Spiders!
