2025 Richmond Spiders Football - Opponents Countdown - Fordham

Mojo-Spider

Bench player

I'd like to begin by thanking Fordham for playing a significant role in the football and basketball development of two of Richmond's finest coaches ever...

Dave Clawson, who built the foundation for our 2008 FCS football National Championship, led Fordham from 1999 until coming to UR in 2004, and Dick Tarrant our legendary basketball coach who showed Spiders fans what we could be with the original "Giant Killers" is a Fordham alum!

this game against the Bronx Rams kicks off "Championship November"...the championship month has been very good for the Spiders since 2021...during this month we've gone 12-2 including Playoff games...this year we finish with Fordham, Georgetown and Lafayette and end the regular season with our historic rivalry game versus William and Mary...

Fordham may be the perfect opponent to kickoff the month...they struggled last season to a 2-10, 2-4 Patriot record...the Patriot preseason poll predicts an even worse 8th place finish in the eight team League this year...head coach John Conlin hopes what one publication calls 16 returning significant players can help turn the Rams around on both sides of the ball...

finally, Fordham undoubtedly has the most storied football history of any Patriot League member...almost a hundred seasons ago they enjoyed their famous "seven blocks of granite era" in which they competed for national championships...then WWII came and the program never recovered...how they got to where they are today is a long, strange trip!

if the Spiders get to this game in position to make another November championship run Fordham could be the perfect opponent...let's hope that's the way it plays out!

enjoy the Countdown!

Go Spiders!

With 4 games remaining, hopefully we’ll start the Frosh from Collegiate. As important he’ll keep his redshirt.
Will be interesting to see if the staff tries something new and gives a young QB a shot. Seems like there is a better chance against Fordham and Georgetown. Would expect the seniors to play vs W&M and maybe Lafayette too.

I think we try to win as many games as possible, with whichever QB puts you in that spot. the potential of getting an older transfer QB to give us another option is better if we win more games.

From what was said at the weekly luncheon today it’s pretty clear the Frosh QB will not be playing next weekend nor any of the remaining games.

Fair will be back and Snelshire from injury.I thought he said Glassmyer too but seems way too quick after hand surgery.

Have heard him say that about Carter before, seems too soon to me also.

Host Fordham hanging with Lehigh at half, down 10-0.

Next week will be more than a challenge for UR.Rams should be favored.
